I am responding to your letter of 3 Nissan*, in which you speak to me about a young man. You are right to train him step by step. It was said of the physical conquest of Eretz Yisrael*, from which one can draw a lesson for the moral conquest: "I will drive him out little by little." You do not specify whether he speaks Yiddish*, in which case you could give him books, a Tanya* and some discourses in Yiddish*. Perhaps this may be useful to him. This means that, if one can genuinely question whether he will listen, if one is practically certain that he will not, it is preferable not to give him instructions, not to ask anything of him, so that the other practices he has adopted are not called into question. Similarly, he is attracted to electricity and it would therefore be good to find him a job in this field, for the reasons you cite and for others as well.

On the occasion of the festival of Matzos*, the time of our freedom, which approaches, for us and for all Israel, for the good, I herewith send you my blessing for a kosher* and joyful festival, a genuine freedom, freedom from material worries and from moral worries, from everything that obstructs the service of Hashem*, with joy and enthusiasm. You will prolong this freedom and this joy throughout the entire year. Moreover, the service of Hashem*, as our Torah*, Torah* of life, commands, extends to everything concerning man, throughout the entire day and night, as it is said: "In all your ways, know Him" (note 2: See Letters no. 6161 to 6163). במענה למכתבו מג' ניסן, במ"ש אודות האברך... טוב עושה מה שמחנך אותו צעד אחר צעד, והרי כבר נאמר בכבוש ארץ ישראל הגשמית, שמזה למדים גם לכבוד א"י ברוחניות, מעט מעט אגרשנו. אינו מזכיר אם מבין הנ"ל אידיש, שאז בטח יתן לו מהדברים שבדפוס (התניא באידיש וגם חלק השיחות באידיש) ואפשר יוכל להועיל להנ"ל בעניניו. ומהאמור מובן, שבאלו הענינים שספק גדול וקרוב לודאי שלא ישמע, אין כדאי לצוותו עליהם, או לבקשו אודותם - בכדי שלא יגע בקיומו ההוראות בעינינים אחרים. כן, כיון שיש להנ"ל חוש בעלעקטריק - נכון למצוא עבורו ענין של פרנסה בשטח זה. ומהטעמים שכותב ועוד טעמים.

ולקראת חג המצות, זמן חירותנו, הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לחג כשר ושמח ולחירות אמיתית, חירות מדאגות בגשם ומדאגות ברוח, מכל דבר המעכב עבודת ה' בשמחה ובטוב לבב, ולהמשיך מחירות ושמחה זו בימי כל השנה כולה.

ובפרט שעבודת השם, כמצווה עלינו בתורתנו תורת חיים, הרי היא בכל עניני האדם ובמשך כל היום וכל הלילה, וכמו שנאמר בכל דרכיך דעהו.
