You ask me (note 1: This letter is addressed to the eminent Rav Shaul Bick. It was written on his own letter of 13 Adar 5718. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5464) about the Chassidic* discourse in the Torah Or*, entitled: "The 25th of Kislev*," explaining that the seven lights of the Menorah* were kindled only at night, which is not the view of the Rambam*. In fact, such is the opinion, in particular, of Rashi*, of the Tosafos* on Tractate Menachos* 86b, of the Ramban*, of the Ravad*, of the Rashba*. One can also deduce it from the description of the service that was performed in the Temple*, as it is recounted on Yom Kippur* (note 2: During the Musaf* prayer). This text was instituted by Yossi Ben Yossi the High Priest, according to the Pri Etz Chaim*, Gate of Yom Kippur*, chapter 4.

You cite the Zohar*, volume 3, pages 88b and 183a, according to which it was kindled twice (note 3: The Menorah* was kindled in the morning and in the evening). This is so according to all the opinions simultaneously. The Torah Or* also explains that in the morning, the seventh light was kindled, as well as the sixth. And, this resolves the question of the Nitzotzei Zohar* at that reference.

במה שהעיר בתו"א ד"ה בכ"ה בכסלו שמפרש השיטה דרק בלילה היו מדליקים כל ז' נרות המנורה (ודלא כשיטת הרמב"ם).

הרי כן היא דעת רש"י, תוס' (מנחות פו, סע"ב), רמב"ן, ראב"ד, רשב"א ועוד. וכ"מ מנוסח העבודה דיוהכ"פ שתיקן יוסי בן יוסי כה"ג (פע"ח שער יוהכ"פ פ"ד) ונקבע בסי' האריז"ל וסי' רבנו.

ומש"כ בזח"ג (פח, ב. קפג, א) שהי' מדליק ב' זמני -

זהו לכל הדעות. וכמוש"כ גם בתו"א שהי' מדליק בבוקר נר הז' (ונר הוא"ו). וסרה קושית הניצוצי זהר שם.
