(28 Shevat 5718)

I read with pleasure, in your letter, the brief description of your sacred accomplishments for the dissemination of Judaism in general and of the wellsprings in particular. Likewise, you mention, thank Hashem*, the impression made by the visit here of all those you cite. But, simultaneously, it is clear that one must guard against being satisfied with this, not say: "Let my innards rejoice!" the moment one already perceives concrete results. Indeed, it seems to me that I have already written to you, many times, that the impression of a Chassidic* farbrengen* is merely a plowing, at most a planting. Subsequently, several tasks — important tasks — still remain necessary, so that everything may grow and produce fruit in the proper manner.

Moreover, insofar as the plowing and sowing have been a success, that forces have been invested in this matter, and that one has therefore observed the help of Hashem*, it is clear that all the greater is the responsibility of all those who must devote themselves to this activity subsequently — to perform all the tasks necessary for the fruits to grow in the proper manner, so that one may cut and gather them.

No doubt no further explanation is necessary, so self-evident is all of this. Nevertheless, this work, in your location, is only a beginning. It is therefore the moment to ensure that one does not make an exaggerated evaluation of these events, including when they are positive, pleasant, and deserving of appreciation — without, for all that, according them a disproportionate value. This is self-evident. Of course, this applies to all those who were marked by this visit. They, too, must take these precautions, know that emotion is not an end in itself, that one must then reintegrate the material, put the Torah* and the mitzvos* into practice in daily life. This is self-evident.

May Hashem* grant that you convey good news of all this as well, in an ever-wider proportion. Indeed, the Torah* commands and assures that "one ascends in holiness."
