Igrot Kodesh · Letter 6072 — Prayer
Volume 16 · Letter 300
By the grace of Hashem*,
23 Shevat* 5718,
Brooklyn,
Shalom* u'vracha*,
I am responding to your letter of 17 Shevat* and, at a propitious moment, I will mention your name at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in accordance with the content of your letter.
According to what certain texts of Chassidus* state, it is incumbent upon you to redouble your attention so as not to utter useless words and, all the more so, forbidden ones. I am merely reminding you of this idea, for I am sure that you are indeed scrupulous in this matter, that you multiply the words of Torah* and of prayer. Indeed, these words are comparable to skin, as the Torah Or* specifies, on page 58a. And, the Holy One, blessed be He, acts "measure for measure," but in a vastly increased proportion. By acting in this manner, one unites the material and the spiritual. This is self-evident.
You surely have knowledge of the studies pertaining to the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*, which are established, and you observe them. Of course, every addition to the Torah* and the mitzvos*, in general, strengthens the fulfillment of the wishes of a person's heart, in a positive manner, materially and spiritually.
With my blessing to convey good news,
