By the grace of Hashem*,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav E. Sh. (note 1: Rav Elyahu Shklovski, of Petach Tikva. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5813),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I received, in its time, your letter announcing good news — that of the Chassidic* farbrengen* that took place in the synagogue and house of study of which you are one of the directors, to celebrate the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, Rosh Hashana* of the study of Chassidus* and Chassidic* ways. And, you know that one speaks, in this case, of head — Rosh* — and not of beginning of the year. Indeed, the head includes within it all the members of the body, which it vivifies. Now, the same applies to the days of the year. May Hashem* therefore grant that, throughout the coming year, for good and for blessing, the strength, vitality, and light be increased, in everything concerning the synagogue and the house of study. It will bear, in the most perfect manner, the name that is its own — that of a Chabad* synagogue.

The merit of those who direct their efforts, who work and lead the action, is established by various texts, and the verse (Daniel 12:3) states clearly that "those who bring merit to the community will be like stars for eternity." I hope that each one will strive to correspond equally to the beginning of that same verse: "And, those who will understand..." (note 2: "...will shine like the brightness of the firmament") by intensifying one's study of the teaching of Chabad*, which is true comprehension. It is a certainty that the promise of the verse will be fulfilled and that all will scintillate like the brightness of the firmament. The beginning of the Tikunei Zohar* specifies that "the brightness of the firmament contains within it all the colors... by this brightness, many souls shine... these are those who understand, possessing discernment, in order to perceive the secrets of their Master."

Everything that is stated by our Torah* delivers a teaching. It is therefore certain that each of you possesses the means to put it into practice. Everything depends solely on determination. Moreover, to support your will, you receive the most considerable help from Hashem*, for the merit of the public comes to your aid.

בעתו קבלתי מכתבו מבשר טוב מההתועדות בבית הכנסת ובית המדרש אשר הוא מהראשים שם, חגיגת יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו ראש השנה ללימוד החסידות ולדרכי החסידות, וידוע הדיוק ראש ולא תחלה שהראש כולל וממשיך חיות לכל האברים, ימות השנה

הנה יהי רצון שבכל ימות השנה הבאה לטובה ולברכה יתוסף כח חיות ואור בכל עניני בית הכנסת ובית המדרש שיהי' מתאים לשמו ביהכ"נ חב"ד התאמה במילואה.

וזכות כל המשתדלים והמתעסקים העומדים בראש מבוארת בכו"כ מקומות, ומקרא מפורש דבר הכתוב (דניאל יב, ג) ומצדיקי הרבים ככובים, לעולם ועד, ותקותי שכ"א ישתדל שיהי' מתאים גם לרישא דקרא, והמשכילים וגו' ע"י הוספה בלימוד תורת חב"ד שזהו המשכיל האמיתי, ובודאי שתקוים גם הבטחת הכתוב שיזהירו כזוהר הרקיע, ופירשו בתקו"ז בתחלתו אשר זוהר הרקיע איהו כליל כל גוון כו' מהאי זהר זהרין כמה נשמתין כו' ואילן משכילים דאית בהון שכל לאשתמודעא ברזין דמריהון,

וכיון שכל האמור בתורתנו ה"ז הוראה בודאי שביכולתו של כל אחד מהם ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצון ולא עוד אלא שברצונם הנה מסייעין להן מלמעלה בסיוע הכי גדול שהרי זכות הרבים מסייעתם.
