To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Ephraim Eliezer HaCohen* (note 1: Rav E. E. Yalles, of Philadelphia. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5792),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I wish to underscore to you the relationship that exists, in a progression from below to above, between the eve of Shabbos*, on the one hand — since it is said that a Shabbos* must necessarily pass before the circumcision is performed — and the Shishi* of the Parashah*, on the other, which must be studied on this day, according to the practice established by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*. This passage treats of the manna, and there is indeed a proof of the holiness of Shabbos* therein, since it is delayed on this account. Moreover, the Likkutei Torah*, at the end of the Chassidic discourse entitled: "For the conductor, for the eighth" ("Lamenatze'ach al HaSheminis*") establishes a relationship between this idea and the personality of Yosef*.

It is said, indeed, that it is a "small queen upon which circumcision, the great queen, rests." It is further underscored that "circumcision is beautiful," and Tractate Nedarim* specifies what can be deduced from a negative formulation (note 2: Underscoring that Moshe was punished for having neglected the circumcision of his children. One can deduce, in a positive manner, the reward for one who performs it). Moreover, "the daughters of Israel are beautiful" precisely because "a woman is considered as having received circumcision" (note 3: From birth, without any action being necessary for this).
