may Hashem* grant you long life,

Blessings and greetings,

I received, with pleasure, your invitation to the annual banquet that is to take place this week (note 1: See, on this subject, Letter no. 6044), on Wednesday of Parshas* Beshalach*. Indeed, this week precedes the Shabbos* of the Song of the Sea (note 2: Shabbos Parshas Beshalach) and it is on this day that this Song is studied, since the Revi'i* corresponds to Wednesday.

It is said that "everything follows the conclusion," and the conclusion of the Song relates the song of Miriam*, the prophetess. Without this latter, the song of Moshe* would not have been complete, so that it is indeed the joyful song of Miriam* and of all the women that completes the fact that: "Then Moshe* and all the Children of Israel sang."

Our holy Torah* thus delivers a teaching to the Jewish women of all generations. They have a great involvement and a great merit in all the most sacred moments, the most decisive events in the history of our people. The crossing of the Sea was a preparation for the receiving of the Torah* and the divine revelation at Mount Sinai*. The Jewish women took an important part in this preparation.

At the present time, we still find ourselves on the path toward the divine revelation, through our righteous Moshiach*, very soon and in our days. And one prepares for this through the Torah*, the mitzvos*, as well as the deeper dimension of this Torah*, according to the illumination provided by Chassidus*. It is for this purpose that the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch was created, transplanted to America by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose Hilloula* is celebrated this week (note 3: On 10 Shevat).

I hope that what has just been said will bring to each of you the appropriate motivation, in order to intensify your action for the benefit of the Yeshivah*, with self-sacrifice and joy. Simultaneously, you will strengthen everything that concerns the Torah* and the mitzvos*, with Chassidic warmth and light, each one in her home and in her surroundings. It is in this way that you will reveal the divine blessings that will grant you success in your personal concerns, material and spiritual.

בעונג קבלתי את הודעתן אודות המסיבה השנתית ,שצריכה

להתקיים השבוע ,יום ד׳ פ׳ בשלח -

זהו השבוע של שבת-שירה והיום של השירה ,כי השירה נמצאת,

אכן ,ברביעי ]של הפרשה[ ,השייך ליום רביעי בשבת.

סיום השירה -שהכל הולך הרי לפי הסיום -הוא שירת מרים

הנביאה .ללא שירת מרים ,שירת משה רבנו לא היתה שלימה .שירת

מרים בשמחה ובל הנשים משלימה את אז ישיר משה ובני ישראל.

בכך נותנת תורתנו הקדושה הוראה לנשות ישראל בכל הדורות,

שלאשה היהודי׳ יש אחריות וזכות גדולה ברגעים הקדושים ביותר

והמאורעות החשובים ביותר בתולדות עמנו.

קריעת ים־סוף היתה הכנה לקבלת התורה ולהתגלות האלוקית

בהר סיני .לנשות ישראל הי׳ חלק חשוב בהכנה זו.

גם היום אנו עומדים בדרך להתגלות האלוקית ,על ידי משיח צדקנו

במהרה בימינו .ההכנה לכך היא באמצעות תורה ומצוות ופנימיות

התורה באור תורת החסידות .למטרה זו נוסדה ישיבת תומכי־תמימים

ליובאוויטש וחזרה וניטעה באמריקה ע״י כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר ,שיום
