Volume 16 · Letter 249

By the grace of Hashem*,

29 Teves* 5718,

Brooklyn,

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I am responding to your letter of 25 Teves*, requesting my blessing.

At a propitious moment, your name will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in order to obtain the fulfillment of your needs and those of the persons you cite, as well as for the incident you describe (note 1: The recipient of this letter had consumed a forbidden food).

It is clear that the repair must be in the same domain (note 2: In this case, the domain of food). You will therefore scrupulously watch over everything you eat and drink. In all things, divine assistance is necessary. Therefore, every weekday, before the morning prayer, you will set aside a few coins for tzedakah*. Then, after the morning prayer, including on Shabbos* and festivals, you will read at least one Psalm.

With my blessing to convey good news,

On behalf of the Rebbe, shlita*,

the secretary,
