To the attention of the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Moshe A.* (note 1: Rav M. A. Yafe),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

After a long interruption, I received with pleasure your letter of 29 Teves*. You ask me about the possibility of my visit to the Holy Land at the beginning of the summer. For the time being, it appears that my work schedule compels me to be here, at least for the entire duration of the summer.

Although you do not mention it in your letter, I have good hope that you participated in the gathering of 19 Kislev* at Kfar Chabad* (?) (note 2: The question mark, placed by the Rebbe in this letter, implies that it could be at another location). You surely know the history of this luminous day, which our masters have called the Rosh Hashanah* of Chassidus*. Now, Rosh Hashanah* exercises a global influence over the entire year, and so it is with 19 Kislev*, which arouses and reveals a Chassidic motivation, a Chassidic warmth in everything concerning a Jew. It enables, in particular, the strengthening and dissemination of the Torah*.

לאחרי ההפסק הארוך קבלתי בנועם מכתבו מכ"ט טבת.

בהנוגע לשאלתו על דבר אפשריות ביקורי באה"ק ת"ו בראשית הקיץ, הנה כנראה לעת עתה, תכנית עבודתי תאלצני להיות כאן - על כל פנים משך כל הקיץ.

אף על פי שאינו מזכיר במכתבו, תקותי שהשתתף בהתועדות די"ט כסלו (בכפר חב"ד?) אשר כ' בטח יודע פרשת יום בהיר זה, אשר רבותינו נשיאינו קראוהו בשם "ראש השנה" לעניני חסידות. וענין ראש-השנה הריהו התעוררות כללית על כל השנה, וכן הוא בהנוגע לי"ט כסלו, שתפקידו לעורר ולהמשיך התעוררות וחום חסידותי בכל עניני איש הישראלי ובפרט בהחזקת התורה והפצתה.
