To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of manifold accomplishments, Rav Shmuel Abba* (note 1: Rav S. A. Snieg, of Munich. See, on his subject, Letter no. 4074),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

After a particularly long interruption, I have received your letter, which was undated. You describe to me, very briefly, the Chassidishe farbrengen* of the festival of the liberation of 19 Kislev*, at which attendance was greater than in previous years.

A well-known teaching of our Sages* says that, whenever ten Jews gather, the Shechinah* reveals itself, even if they do not pronounce words of Torah*, as explained by the Alter Rebbe* in the Iggeres HaKodesh*, chapter 23. How much more so in the presence of a large crowd, of several dozen people exchanging words of Torah* and fear of Hashem*. May Hashem* grant that the result be felt throughout all the days of the coming year. Indeed, our masters revealed to us that this day, 19 Kislev*, is the Rosh Hashanah* of the study of Chassidus* and the Chassidic ways. And it is known that it is defined as the head — Rosh* — and not as the beginning, for, just as the head carries within it the vitality of the members of the body and distributes it to them, this Rosh Hashanah* does likewise for all the days of the year.

I read with pleasure in your letter that Tehillim* is recited before the prayer on the Shabbos* that blesses the month (note 2: The complete Tehillim, in accordance with the practice established by the Frierdiker Rebbe). May Hashem* grant that the prayers of the Sweet Singer of Israel (note 3: King David, author of the Tehillim) reveal increased blessing and success in all the needs of each person, material and spiritual.

With my blessing to convey good news, always and every day, of your communal endeavors — which will strengthen your personal accomplishments, the one depending on the other — so that you will convey good news of those as well,

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך, נתקבל מכתבו - בלי הוראת זמן הכתיבה - בו כותב אף כי בקיצור נמרץ ביותר מהתועדות חג הגאולה הוא י"ט כסלו, ואשר השתתפו בה קהל עם רב יותר מבשנים הקודמות.

ומובן ע"פ מרז"ל הידוע אכל בי' עשרה שכינתא שריא אף שאינם מדברים בדברי תורה כלשון רבנו הזקן באגה"ק סי' כ"ג עאכו"כ ברב עם כ"פ עשרה ומדברים דברי תורה ויר"ש, ויהי רצון שיפעלו הדברים פעולתם בימי כל השנה כולה הבע"ל, וע"פ הידוע שגילו לנו רבותינו נשיאינו, שהיום הזה י"ט כסלו הוא ראש השנה ללימוד החסידות ולדרכי החסידות, וידוע הדיוק לשון ראש ולא תחלה, שהראש כולל בתוכו חיות כל האברים וממשיך להם חיות, ז.א. בימי כל השנה הבע"ל.

נעם לי לקרות במכתבו אודות אמירת תהלים לפני התפלה בשבת מברכים, ויהי רצון שתפלות נעים זמירות ישראל ימשיכו תוספת ברכה והצלחה בכל המצטרך לכ"א מנפש ועד בשר.

בברכה לבשו"ט תכה"י בענינים הכללים והרי עי"ז בודאי יתוסף בענינים הפרטים כי הא בהא תליא ויבשר טוב גם בהם.
