I am responding to your letter of the 7th of Teves*. At a propitious moment, I will mention your name and all those you cite in your letter at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, so that each may obtain the satisfaction of his needs, in accordance with what you write to me.

You had the merit of being a student of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, in which the two trees are united — the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, according to the expression of the Zohar*, volume 3, page 157a, the explanation of which you will find in the Iggeres HaKodesh* of the Alter Rebbe*, chapter 26, and in the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Shelach, from page 42b. It is therefore quite evident that you must intensify your study of Chassidus*, with enthusiasm, so that it permeates everything that concerns you — the study of the revealed part of the Torah*, the practice of mitzvos*, and the permitted domains of which it is said: "In all your ways, know Him." And nothing withstands the will.

בעת רצון יזכירוהו וכן כל אלה שכותב במכתבו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, להמצטרך להם מתאים לתוכן כתבו.

וכיון שזכה ללמוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים, אשר בה מתאחדים שני העצים אילנא דחיי ואילנא דטו"ר [ראה זח"ג קנז, א, ועיין, בביאור, באגרת הקדש לרבנו הזקן סי' כ"ו ובלקוטי תורה, שלח מב' ב' ואילך], הנה מובן ופשוט שעליו להוסיף בלימוד תורת החסידות בחיות עד שיחדירה בכל עניניו בלימוד הנגלה בקיום המצות ובעניני הרשות דבכל דרכיך דעהו, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
