I have just received your letter of the sixth day of Chanukah*, as well as the two telegrams that preceded it, in their time, along with your book "Yisrael for His Unity" and several press clippings. I thank you very much. You inform me of your state of health. You have been hospitalized in order to be healed and to undergo medical treatment. I hasten to express to you my wishes for success and a prompt and complete recovery. Many are those who need you, for the power and the ability to bring them closer to Hashem*, to His Torah*, and to His mitzvos* have been granted to you. Their merit and that of the community accompany you. I hope to receive good news of all this.

With my blessing to convey good news, in particular of your state of health,

My response was delayed, as was my acknowledgment of receipt of your previous correspondence. The sole reason is the number of my activities, which has been particularly great these recent weeks, with the publication of two books of the Alter Rebbe* (note 2: These are the Maamarei Admor HaZaken, Ethalech Lyozna and Hana'os HaRap. See also Letters no. 5581, 5629, 6009, 6011, and 6012). You are surely aware of our activities — concerns of mitzvah* and, at the same time, of elevation. Very often, even if time does not permit studying these Chassidic discourses with all the necessary depth, one nonetheless feels, in this regard, the application of the saying of the Rebbe Rashab* according to which: "the Chassidic discourses from before Petersburg (note 3: Before the imprisonment of the Alter Rebbe, which culminated in the liberation of 19 Kislev) were burning." Now, it appears that a large portion of the discourses contained in these books are indeed from before Petersburg. These books have been sent to you under separate cover. They will provide you with increased support in your activity of spreading Yiddishkeit* and the wellsprings* (note 4: Of Chassidus) to the outside.

זה עתה נתקבל מכתבו מו' חנוכה, וכן נתקבלו בעתם שני מכתבים שקדמו לו וספרו "ישראל ליחודו" וקטעי מכ"ע, ות"ח ת"ח.

בו כותב ע"ד מצב בריאותו ואשר נכנס לביה"ח ולהבראה לטיפול רפואי. ואמהר להביע לו איחולי לטיפול בהצלחה ולרפואה קרובה וגם שלמה. והרי רבים צריכים לו כיון שניתנה לו היכולת והאפשרות לקרבם לה' לתורתו ולמצוותיו, וזכותם זכות הרבים מסייעתו, ואצפה לבשורות טובות בכל האמור.

בברכה לבשורות טובות ובבריאותו ביחוד.

ודאי ופשוט שמה שנתעכב המענה שלי ואפילו אישור המכתבים הקודמים, הסיבה היחידית לזה הוא רבוי הטרדות אשר גברו ביותר בשבועות האחרונים בקשר עם ההדפסה של שני ספרי מאמרי רבנו הזקן שבודאי ידוע לו מכבר ע"ד פעולותינו בזה, טרדה של מצוה וביחד עם זה של עלי', ושלפעמים רבות, אף שלא הרשה הזמן ללמוד המאמרים בעיון הדרוש, בכל זה נרגש בהם ומתאמת הפתגם של כ"ק אדמו"ר (מהורש"ב) - "די מאמרים פון פאר פעטערבורג האבן געברענט", וכנראה חלק גדול מהמאמרים שבשני ספרים אלו הם מלפני פ"ב. ובחבילה בפ"ע נשלחו לכ', והי' זה לתוספת עדוד במפעלו להפצת היהדות והמעיינות חוצה.
