I am responding to your letter of 23 Kislev* and I am surprised that you tell me nothing of the Chassidishe farbrengen* on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*. Indeed, this day is a Rosh Hashanah* and, just as the head — Rosh* — carries within it all the members of the body that it vivifies, this date includes all the days of the year, which bear its imprint.

You tell me about a young man, a student of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* (note 1: Presumably sent to this Yeshivah by the addressee of this letter), to whom you wrote telling him what he should study. This is, of course, astonishing and surprising. Indeed, when a student enters the Yeshivah*, he must accept the decision of its administration and not submit to an outside authority. You surely recall what has always been the rule at the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*. Of course, this does not preclude the possibility of sharing your opinion with the administration of the Yeshivah*. On the contrary, your manner of proceeding is to be excluded.

You allude to this sick person (note 2: Suffering from epilepsy). There exist, in such cases, medications that not only alleviate the crises but, moreover, space them further and further apart. However, I am surprised, for the doctor you mention in your letter is a specialist in this field. Perhaps his prescriptions are not being followed, which is why they remain without effect.

במענה למכתבו מכ"ג כסלו, ולפלא שאינו מזכיר דבר ע"ד התועדות יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, שהרי כדיוק תוארו הוא ראש השנה, שהראש כולל בתוכו וממשיך חיות לכל האברים שבגוף, ז.א. בכל ימות השנה שתהי' השפעת יום זה ניכר בכל ימות השנה.

ובמ"ש אודות... שי' הלומד בישיבת תו"ת ב... שהוא כתב לו מה שילמוד וכו', מובן שפלא גדול הדבר וגם תמי', שהרי הלימוד דתלמיד שנכנס לישיבה, עליו לקבל הוראת הנהלת הישיבה ולא מבחוץ לה, ובודאי זוכר גם הוא איך היתה הנהגה בזה בישיבת תו"ת מימים ימימה, מובן שאין הנ"ל שולל שיכול להציע סברתו להנהלת הישיבה שם, אבל מופרכת הנהגה האמורה.

במ"ש אודות... שי', הנה בכגון דא ישנם תרופות שפועלות לא רק להקל אלא שמגדילים ההפסק בין פעם לפעם, וההוספה ההולכת וגדלה, ולפלא שהרי הרופא שמזכיר במכתבו מומחה הוא במקצוע ואפשר אין ממלאים הוראתו, ולכן לע"ע לא ניכרת הפעולה.
