I have received your two letters and what the first contained. I thank you for the good news, since you tell me that your brother-in-law and his family are beginning to settle in Eretz Yisrael*. May Hashem* grant that they secure their livelihood — materially and spiritually alike. For your part, you are surely encouraging him, not only materially but also spiritually. This is self-evident.

You mention the proposal made to you to purchase a house, but you tell me nothing about the neighborhood in which it is located. Is it a place that people are leaving, or one where people are settling? And what is its condition? Indeed, one does not buy a house for a few months. One remains there for at least several years. You also do not communicate to me the opinion of a real estate expert. If the purchase conditions are favorable and if the answers to these two questions are satisfactory, it is judicious to accept this proposal.

I am surprised that you tell me nothing of the Chassidishe farbrengen* of 19 Kislev*, Rosh Hashanah* of the study of Chassidus* and the Chassidic ways — in particular, of the addition that resulted from it for Torah* and mitzvos* in general, and for the wellsprings* of Chassidus* and their spreading in particular. According to the well-known saying of our masters, a Jew must, at every Rosh Hashanah*, resolve upon an addition — whether it concerns a positive commandment, a prohibition, or a custom. The same applies to 19 Kislev*, the Rosh Hashanah* of Chassidus*. May Hashem* grant that you convey good news of all this to me — of a visible and tangible good.

מאשר הנני קבלת שני מכתביו עם המוסגר במכתבו הראשון, ות"ח על הבשורה טובה מהתחלת הסתדרות גיסו ומשפחתו שי' באה"ק ת"ו, ויהי רצון שיהי' הענין של פרנסה, פרנסה בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד, ובודאי מצדו מעוררו ומחזיקו לא רק בגשמיות אלא גם ברוחניות, וק"ל.

במ"ש אודות הצעת קנין בית. - אינו מבאר ע"ד השכונה אם זוהי שכונה שמעתיקים ממנה או לתוכה במצבה עומדת, שהרי קנין בית לא לאיזה חדשים אלא לכה"פ לאיזה שנים, כן אינו כותב דעת מומחה בנכסי דלא ניידי, באם תנאי הקני' טובים הם, ובאם המענה לשתי השאלות הפרטיות משביעים רצון, כדאי לעשות הדבר.

לפלא שאינו מזכיר ע"ד התועדותו ביום הבהיר די"ט כסלו ראש השנה ללימוד החסידות ולדרכי החסידות, ובעיקר ע"ד ההוספה בעניני תורה ומצות, ובעניני מעינות החסידות והפצתם ביחוד, וע"ד פתגם הידוע של רבותינו נשיאינו, שבכל ראש השנה צריך איש הישראלי לקבל על עצמו איזה הוספה במ"ע ובמל"ת ובמנהג ישראל, שעד"ז הוא בהנוגע להענינים של י"ט כסלו ר"ה לחסידות, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בכל האמור, ובשו"ט בטוב הנראה והנגלה.
