To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*,

Rav Yisrael Noach* (note 1: Rav I. N. Belinitski, of Paris. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5801),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I have received your letter, which was undated, and I thank you very much for the accounts you transmit to me concerning our masters, whose merit protects us. Indeed, you know the talk of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, according to which the Book of Bereishis* precedes, introduces, and prepares the following books. Now, the order of the Torah* is an integral part of it, and the element cited first is not merely first in space or in time. This precedence is defined by the Tanya*, in chapter 36.

In this regard, you conclude your letter after the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, Rosh Hashanah* of the study of Chassidus* and the Chassidic ways, and I am somewhat surprised that you tell me nothing of the Chassidishe farbrengen* (note 2: Presumably that of the Yeshivah Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch of Brunoy, near Paris). Words of encouragement were surely spoken there — words of Torah* and words of Chassidus*. You will undoubtedly complete all of this at the next opportunity. May Hashem* grant that its imprint be felt throughout the entire year. It is precisely for this reason that one speaks of a head — Rosh*. For it is the head that carries within it and transmits the vitality of all the members of the body, corresponding to the days of the coming year.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו - מבלי הוראת זמן הכתיבה - ות"ח ת"ח על הסיפורים אודות רבותנו נשיאנו זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, וכבר ידוע ומפורסם שיחת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, שספר בראשית בא מקודם וכהקדמה והכנה להספרים שלאחרי זה, והרי קדימה בתורה שגם הסדר שלה תורה היא אין זה רק קדימה במקום ובזמן אלא גם קדימה ע"פ המבואר בתניא פרק ל"ו.

ובקשר עם זה לפלא קצת אף שמסיים מכתבו לאחר יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו ראש השנה ללימוד החסידות ודרכי החסידות, בכל זה אינו מזכיר דבר מההתועדות, שהרי בודאי נאמרו בה דברי התעוררות, דברי תורה ודברי דא"ח, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הבאה, ויהי רצון שהרושם יפעל על כל השנה כולה, וכדיוק הלשון ראש שכולל בתוכו וממשיך חיות לכל האברים שהם ימות השנה הבע"ל.
