sacred mission and devotes himself to communal needs,

I am responding to your letter of 15 Kislev* and to the one that preceded it. Of course, your discouragement at the absence of a response from here is unfounded and has no basis. The reason is solely my many activities. I therefore respond first to the most urgent cases — each time someone goes astray — in accordance with the commentary our Sages* make on the prayer of King Shlomo* (note 2: See, on this subject, Letter no. 6131). For the Children of Israel, conditions are stated, but not... In a more subtle sense, the same applies in this case.

You refer to the Talmud Torah*. It is clear that it could be improved in various points that you mention. However, I am certain that, in everyone's view, it is inconceivable to call into question its intrinsic importance. This is so evident that it is unnecessary to say more.

I await good news of the Chassidishe farbrengen* on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, and you will also make use of Chanukah* for Yiddishkeit* in general and the spreading of the wellsprings* (note 3: Of Chassidus) in particular. May Hashem* grant you success.

במענה על מכתבו מט"ו כסלו והקדמו, ומובן שאין כל מקום ויסוד לנפילת רוח וכו' מעכוב המענה על מכתביו מכאן - כי הסיבה היא רוב הטרדות, שלכן בא המענה לאלו שהענין תכוף ביותר כי מתנהגים בדרכים עקלקלות וכיו"ב, וכידוע פירוש רז"ל בתפלת שלמה המלך, שבהנוגע לבנ"י הותנו תנאים משא"כ וכו', ועד"ז בדקות גם בנדון דידן.

ובמ"ש אודות הת"ת, הנה אף שבודאי יש מקום לכמה תקונים שפורטם - תקותי אני אשר כ"ע מודי דאי אפשר להטיל ספק בנחיצות הענין עצמו דהת"ת, ולרוב הפשיטות אין להאריך בזה...

המחכה לבשו"ט מההתועדות דיום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, ובטח ינצלו גם ימי חנוכה - לעניני יהדות בכלל והפצת המעינות ביחוד - והשי"ת יצליחם.
