I read with interest what you write to me about public prayer, but I am surprised by the conclusion of your letter. You tell me that you have good relations with these men, but that they are simple people who oppose Chassidus*, and that it is impossible to study with them. Now, you know the importance of simple people and their value, as explained in the Kuntres Limud HaChassidus* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*.

Likewise, you speak of opponents to Chassidus*. No one can be so characterized within the House of Israel, and even those who verbally express their opposition do so solely out of lack of knowledge. When one presents matters to them as they truly are, not only do they cease to oppose, but moreover, they become friends who lend their support and assistance. Everything therefore depends upon the one who addresses them. He must do so with warm words, emanating from his heart. It is then that the words he speaks can persuade.

You will surely participate in the Chassidishe farbrengen* on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, so that you will preserve its imprint during the days that follow.

...קראתי בהתענינות מה שכותב אודות המנין, ולפלא סיום מכתבו אשר עומד הוא ביחס טוב עם האנשים, אבל הם פשוטים ומתנגדים ואי אפשר לעשות מה שהוא ללמוד עמהם, שהרי ידוע חשיבות אנשים פשוטים ומעלתם, כמובן מהמבואר בקונטרס לימוד החסידות לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר. כן במ"ש אודות מתנגדים, אין כאלו בתוככי בית ישראל, שאפילו אלו המתנגדים בדבור, זהו רק מחסרון ידיעה, וכשמבארים להם הענינים כמו שהם, לא רק שפוסקים התנגדותם אלא שגם נעשים לאוהבים ואוהדים ומסייעים, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא בהמעורר שיהיו דבריו בחיות ויוצאים מן הלב שאז יפעלו פעולתם.

בודאי ישתתף בהתועדות יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, ובאופן שיהי' רישומה ניכר בהימים שלאחר זה.
