Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the eve of Shabbos*. According to a well-known statement of our Sages*, when one bestows good upon someone, one does so for long days and good years. May Hashem grant that you continue to give me good tidings, in general and, of course, in this domain in particular — that of the regularization of official documents. Naturally, it is necessary in this matter to follow the ways of nature, as it is stated: "Hashem your Elokim will bless you in all that you do." And when one follows the ways of nature, Hashem grants His blessing in a supernatural manner.

You mention the manner in which married women's hair was formerly shaved. There are, in this matter, several ways of proceeding and several customs, depending on the different communities, and, in the expression of our Sages*, "these and those are perfectly righteous." Naturally, I am referring to practices whose purpose is to strengthen the fear of Hashem. One must therefore verify, in your case, which is the best manner of proceeding. You will act accordingly.

Our Sages* say that "if the couple is meritorious, the Divine Presence (Shechinah*) dwells in their midst." May Hashem therefore grant that you strengthen your home on the basis of the Torah* and its inner teaching, that is, Chassidus* and its practices. Naturally, the influence in this direction that each of you exerts upon your surroundings strengthens the blessing and success that Hashem grants in all your needs in this domain. Indeed, the Holy One, blessed be He, acts "measure for measure," but in greatly increased proportion.

במענה למכתבו מעש"ק, ע"פ מרז"ל הידוע דכל שמטיבין לו הרי זה לאורך ימים ושנים טובות, הנה יהי רצון שימשיך לבשר טוב בכלל ובזה כמובן ענין סידור הניירות, אף שמובן ג"כ שצריך להשתדל בזה בדרכי הטבע וכמ"ש וברכך ה"א בכל אשר תעשה, שכשעושים בדרך הטבע משפיע השי"ת ברכתו גם למעלה מדרך הטבע.

במ"ש בענין תספורת השערות מלפנים של נשים נשואות, הנה בכלל כמה אופנים בזה וכמה מנהגים בין החרדים עצמם וכמרז"ל עד"ז תרווייהו צדיקי גמורי נינהו, ז.א.

שכוונתי למנהגים שתכליתם הם יראת שמים יותר, ולכן יש לברר בנדון דידי' איך הוא הטוב ביותר, ובהתאם לזה להתנהג.

ויהי רצון שמתאים לדברי רז"ל זכו שכינה שרוי' ביניהם, יגדל ביתם על יסודי התורה ופנימיותה זוהי תורת החסידות והדרכותי', ופשיטא שכל השפעה בסביבתם בכגון דא של כ"א מהם, מוסיפה בברכת השי"ת והצלחתו בהמצטרך להם בענין זה עצמו, שהרי מדתו של הקב"ה מדה כנגד מדה אלא שכ"פ ככה.
