Blessings and greetings (note 1: this letter is addressed to a woman),

I am responding to your letter, describing your state of health and that of your children, to whom Hashem will grant long life. I hope that upon receipt of this letter, everything will be much better.

You tell me that you suffer from migraines. You do not specify what diagnosis the doctors make. In general, in such cases, nicotinic acid tablets are prescribed (note 2: in English in the original text; see on this subject letter no. 5730). It would no doubt be good to ask the doctor about this. But perhaps he has already prescribed them for you.

In any case, the more you strengthen your trust in Hashem, Who "heals all flesh and performs wonders," the more quickly and completely you will recover your health. How much more so for those who have many times observed the miracles of Hashem. Without doubt, Hashem will continue His kindnesses and grant you success also in the future.

To the young Chassid* who fears Hashem and fulfills a sacred mission, Yaakov (note 1: Y. Yafet, of Lod),

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of the eve of Wednesday, presenting the activity report of the Chabad* school in the outskirts of Lod. I am surprised that the number of students is so small. Certainly, you give me the reason. Nevertheless, one has already been able to observe, in every place, including in Eretz Yisrael*, the effectiveness of effort, in accordance with the teaching of our Sages* that "you shall make efforts" and, consequently, it is certain that "you shall succeed."

My purpose is not to complain about the past, but to counsel eagerness for the future. Certainly, we are in the middle of the school year. But there are surely new arrivals in the neighborhood who are not enrolled anywhere and who, for the present, are not connected to any institution. And perhaps there are still other means of being active in this matter. You will surely consult the Chabad* educational administrators, and "salvation is obtained through many counselors."

I hope that, in addition to the sacred mission you fulfill toward others (note 2: teaching), you also put into practice the injunction: "Do not hide from your own flesh" — that is, you intensify your own commitment to Torah* and mitzvos*, in general, and to the study of the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*, in particular. May Hashem grant that you give me good tidings of all this.

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מאור ליום ד', דו"ח מבית הספר חב"ד אשר בשכוני לוד.

ולפלא על מספר המועט של התלמידים, ואף שכותב הטעמים בזה, כבר ראו במוחש בכל מקום וגם באה"ק ת"ו, אשר כשמשתדלים, בזה באופן מתאים להוראת חז"ל, - יגעת מתקיימת גם ההבטחה ומצאת , ואין כוונתי להיות מהצועקין על עבר, אלא לזרז בהנוגע להבא, כי אף שאמצע זמן הלימודים הוא, הרי נמצאו בטח כמה מהמתיישבים חדשים בהשכונה שעדיין לא נרשמו ואין מקושרים לע"ע עם בי"ס מיוחד, ואפשר ישנם עוד אופנים לעשות בהנ"ל, ובודאי יתייעץ עם עסקני חינוך חב"ד, ותשועה ברוב יועץ.

תקותי שנוסף על מלאכתו מלאכת שמים בהנוגע להזולת, מקיים הוא גם ומבשרך לא תתעלם, ז.א. הוספה בעניני תורה ומצות בכלל, ובלימוד תורת הנגלה וחסידות ביחוד. והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
