Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter of this Tuesday, in which you inform me of your state of health and tell me what the doctors think of your situation, the influence this has had upon the members of your community, and the arguments they advance on this subject.
I hope, nevertheless, that with the necessary reflection, a way can be found to lighten your workload and the functions you fulfill, so as to meet the doctor's expectations. In general, doctors consider that a person should have an occupation, provided it is not beyond his strength. Inactivity is harmful, even for a healthy body. I presume that the doctor will not only agree that you retain your current functions and maintain them in a lightened manner, but moreover, that he himself will encourage you to proceed in this way, especially since the merit of communal activity protects you.
In working for this community, you are surely spreading Jewish values within it. You are also disseminating Chassidus* and everything related to it. The merit of the public will therefore assist you in obtaining a speedy recovery, good health, and success in everything that concerns you.
Awaiting your good tidings concerning all that has been said,
