To the great Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, who has fine character traits, Rav Chaim Avraham HaLevi (note 1: Rav C. A. Jungreisz, of Jerusalem),

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter conveying good tidings, as you tell me that your state of health has improved and that you have already returned home. May Hashem grant that you improve more and more, that you fully recover your strength, in the most literal sense and as it can be interpreted, as explained (note 2: see on this subject Toras Chaim*, Parshas* Tetzaveh*, from page 482a; and the Shaar HaEmunah*, chapter 25, states: "The material vision of the physical eye") in the Chassidic* discourse Maskil LeEisan*, of the Alter Rebbe*, published in the Kuntres Limud HaChassidus*.

At an auspicious moment, I will mention all those whom you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, so that each one may obtain the satisfaction of his needs, in accordance with what you write. Our Sages* say that "when one bestows good upon someone, one does so for long days and good years." In this instance, you have begun to give me good tidings — that of the success of your medical treatment and the improvement of your health. May Hashem therefore grant that this teaching of our Sages* apply equally to the other areas that you mention in your letter.

There is a significant indication, which is as follows. This year, the first day following Rosh Hashanah* was a Shabbos*, when "there is no other power in all the worlds." Then, "the face shines with a brilliance of superior radiance," through the light of the Face of the King of life, the King, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He. One cites in this regard the example of earthly royalty: the greatest wicked person, when being led to the gallows, will be pardoned if he then encounters the king, and he will thus be able to return home in peace. How much more so when one encounters the queen Shabbos*, which follows the "extended day" constituted by the two days of Rosh Hashanah*.

On Rosh Hashanah*, "Hashem reigned and clothed Himself in glory," in an evident manner, as stated in the Pirkei* de Rabbi Eliezer*. Such were the words of Adam*, the first man, who addressed all the creatures of the world, including the wild beasts and the domestic animals, and told them: "Come, let us prostrate ourselves and bow down," for the Heavenly Kingship is then affirmed manifestly, even in the eyes of a wild beast or a domestic animal.

May Hashem grant that we merit very soon the fulfillment of the promise according to which "the honor of Hashem will be revealed and all flesh together will see," as explained by the Mitteler Rebbe*, son of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya*. The wild beasts and domestic animals will be aware of it, just as the cows that carried the Holy Ark* at the time of Dovid* (note 3: The Rebbe notes at the bottom of the page: "This is the version that appears in the Likkutei Torah*, Parshas* Bamidbar*, page 10b. A person is obligated to adopt the formulation of his teacher, and this is a merit for him. In this instance, it is not a matter of Dovid's* kingship, for this occurred thirteen years earlier and Dovid* was then seventeen years old. Why then say 'at the time of Dovid*'? This can be understood according to the Zohar* passage cited by the Likkutei Torah*."; see on this subject letter no. 5464) began to sing.

With my blessing to convey good tidings of all this,
