To the young Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Aharon (note: Rav A. Serebrianski, of Melbourne, Australia; see, regarding him, Igros Kodesh, letters no. 5068 and 6053),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letters of the 28th of Elul and the 9th of Tishrei*, addressed to my secretariat. I am surprised that it was necessary to emphasize to you the need to maintain contact with this person. May Hashem grant that in the future, it will be unnecessary to receive such clarifications from someone else, regarding all that concerns the former students of Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* in Melbourne. It would be judicious for one of you to undertake to find the addresses of all the former students, to write them to transmit wishes for a good year, to encourage them, to wish them a good festival. One can verify concretely that this is beneficial, materially and spiritually, for those who write these letters and for those who receive them. Moreover, this practice will be beneficial also for the Yeshivah*, from the financial standpoint.

You also tell me that you do not know clearly to whom to send (note: presumably to whom in New York to send the requests for aid for Australia), which explains your inaction. I am surprised that you have a doubt in this matter. Indeed, whenever one does not know to whom to address oneself, one turns to the central department, which forwards the request to the relevant party. In this case, this central department is my secretariat.

You have surely taken advantage of the days of Tishrei*, in general, and the time of our joy (note: the festival of Sukkos*) in particular, to spread the wellsprings (note: of Chassidus*). I await good and detailed news.

The dispatch of the present letter was delayed, and in the meantime, I received your letter of the 1st of Marcheshvan*. I thank you for it. You make reference to a magician. In the future, you will verify in advance whether this (note: having recourse to his services to entertain children) is permitted, according to the Shulchan Aruch*, Yoreh Deah*, chapter 179.

מאשרים קבלת מכתבו מכ"ח אלול, וט' תשרי ע"ש המזכירות, ולפלא שצריך הי' לעורר ע"ד הקישור עם מר... שי' ויה"ר שעכ"פ מכאן ולהבא לא יהי' צריך באתערותא מבחוץ בהנוגע לזה וכיו"ב, שאר תלמידי אהלי"י אשר במעלבורן בעבר, ומהנכון הי' שמי מהם יתענין למצוא הכתבת של כל התלמידים בעבר, ולשלוח להם שנה טובה מכתבי התעוררות מכתבים ליום טוב וכיו"ב וכו' ורואים במוחש שתועלת בזה בשביל המעוררם וגם בשביל המקבלים הן ברוחניות והן בגשמיות, ובנדון דידן תהי' ג"כ תועלת להישיבה בעניני הכספים.

בהנוגע לשאלתו שאין יודע ברור למי לשלוח וכו' ולכן עושה בזה ברפיון, הנה לפלא הספק בזה, כי במקום שאין ברור מובן ששולחים למחלקה מרכזית והיא ממציאה להשייך לזה, שבנדון דידן זוהי המזכירות.

בודאי ניצלו ימי תשרי בכל וזמני שמחתנו ביחוד להפצת המעינות, ואחכה לבשו"ט ומפורטות.
