To the leaders of the benevolent fund association, may Hashem grant you long life,
Warm greetings and blessings,
I received with pleasure the report of your association's activities over the past year, even if the results should have been greater and broader. Indeed, because of our many sins, we have not yet obtained the fulfillment of the prayer: "Within Your people, Israel, none shall need the other." Nevertheless, I have good hope that each of you will do what depends on him, and will influence his friends and acquaintances to do the same, in order to increase the means of the benevolent fund, to the fullest extent possible and as quickly as possible.
Moreover, our Sages* say that tzedakah* is considered equivalent to all the mitzvos*, as various texts explain, in particular chapters 34 and 37 of the Tanya*. Within tzedakah* itself, benevolence is its most elevated form, as the Shulchan Aruch* rules. You will also consult the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "Whoever has compassion upon the creatures," printed in Kuntres* no. 61.
It is said: "I am a companion of all who fear You and who observe Your commandments," and I therefore enclose a check, as a symbolic participation, for your benevolent fund.
Awaiting your good news, and with my blessing for all who make efforts and devote themselves to this fund, with the members of their families, for the satisfaction of their material and spiritual needs,

שלום וברכה רבה!
בנועם הגיעני הדו"ח מפעולת אגודתם בשנה העברה, אף שמובן אשר המחזור צריך הי' להיות גדול יותר ובהרבה, שהרי בעוה"ר עדיין לא נתקיימה התפלה שלא יצטרכו עמך בית ישראל זה לזה, אבל תקותי חזקה שכל אחד מהם יעשה התלוי בו וכן ישפיע על ידידיו ומכיריו לעשות ככל התלוי בהם להגדלת האפשריות של קופת הגמ"ח ככל האפשרי ובהקדם האפשרי.
ובפרט ע"פ מאמר רז"ל אשר צדקה שקולה כנגד כל המצות (ומבואר הענין בכ"מ ובתניא פרק לד' ולז') ובמעלת הצדקה עצמה הרי גמ"ח היא הנעלית בזה וכפסק דין השו"ע, ויעויין ג"כ בד"ה כל המרחם על הבריות, נדפס בקונטרס ס"א.
