To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, full of zeal, of many accomplishments, Rav Moshe Yitzchak (note: Rav M. I. Hecht, of New Haven; see, regarding him, Igros Kodesh, letter no. 5795),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from this Sunday, and advancing ahead of the queue, I write to you immediately to thank you for the good news you convey (note: see, regarding this, Igros Kodesh, letter no. 5800). Furthermore, I wish for my response to be written still during the month of Tishrei*, various texts — in particular the Chassidic* discourses of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* — explain whose general significance for the entire year. The conduct one adopts therein and the content one gives it can therefore continue throughout all the other months of the year. Consequently, every good deed accomplished therein possesses an additional dimension. It bears fruits and fruits of fruits in the coming months. May Hashem grant that this year you know only a visible and tangible good, in your communal accomplishments and in your personal concerns. And you will then be able to share all of this with me.

As you know, each person possesses a mitzvah* that is the portal through which everything he accomplishes receives elevation, and through which he himself obtains blessing in all his needs. In general, Divine Providence enables one to determine which this mitzvah* is. You yourself and your friends of the Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* of New Haven have surely noticed that what concerns this Yeshivah* and its development is your mitzvah*, the one you must observe more scrupulously — Zahir*, in the literal sense, but also according to the deeper meaning, which is to be associated with Zohar*, radiance, light. This is what is expected of each one of you, and even more so of the leaders. It is therefore clear that you have received all the necessary strength for this — everything that enables one to carry out this mission in a full and complete manner. As the Baal Shem Tov* says, commenting on the verse: "you shall come to his aid" — you will do so in good physical health, with joy and enthusiasm.

With my blessing to give good news of all this, including of what concerns you personally, extending greetings to all who assist you in your sacred mission and to all who participate in your public classes,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום הראשון, ומבלי לחכות על התור, עונה הנני עליו בתור הכרת תודה על הבשורה טובה שמודיע, ובפרט שרוצה הנני שיכתב המענה עוד בחדש תשרי שכפי המבואר בכ"מ ומהם במאמרי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הוא חדש הכללי לכל השנה, ז.א. שההנהגה בו והענינים אשר בו מסגולתם להמשך במשך כל חדשי שנה הבאה.

שבמילא מובן אשר כל פעולה טובה שתעשה במשך חדש זה ענין נוסף בה, שיש לה פירות ופירי פירות גם בחדשים הבאים, ויהי רצון אשר במשך כל השנה אך טוב בטוב הנראה והנגלה יבשר בענינים הכללים ובענינים הפרטים...

וע"פ הידוע אשר לכל אחד יש לו מצוה שהיא השער להעלות כל עניניו ממטה למעלה, ולהמשכות בכל המצטרך לו מלמעלה למטה, וע"פ רוב מכירים זה ע"י הנהגת השגחה העליונה, מה מצוה, בודאי נוכחו הוא וחבריו בישיבת אחי תמימים דניו הייווען, אשר עיני ישיבה זו והגדלתה, זוהי המצוה שלהם, אשר בה צריכים לקיים להיות זהיר טפי, זהיר כפשוטו וזהיר כפנימיות הפירוש מלשון זוהר ואור, וכיון שדורשים את זה מכל אחד מהם, וביתר שאת מההנהלה, בודאי שמראש ניתנו כל הכחות והענינים הנצרכים למלאות תפקיד זה, ובמילואו דוקא, וכפי דרישת הבעש"ט עזב תעזוב עמו מתוך בריאות הגוף ובשמחה ובטוב לבב.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור וכן בעניניו הפרטים ופ"ש כל המסייעים לו בעבודתו בקדש וכל המשתתפים בהשיעורים אשר לומד הוא ברבים.
