Greetings and blessings,

After a long interruption, I duly received your letter of this Wednesday, and no doubt you yourself received, some time ago — although you do not mention it — my letter responding to your previous correspondence. You write that during the vacation, the Chassidim* participated in an educational activity in the place where they were. You surely took this opportunity to draw closer to them. Indeed, for everything that concerns the Torah* and the mitzvos*, and all that pertains to them, it is said that bonding with friends is a positive initiative. And in the domain of good, this contribution is greater (note: than in the negative domain). Indeed, the people with whom one is in contact do play a determining role, as the well-known discourse Hechaltzu explains, and a saying of the Mitteler Rebbe* (note: see letter no. 5581), son of the Alter Rebbe*, affirms: "When two Jews speak together, two divine souls join forces against one animal soul." This is self-evident.

You are contemplating the writing of a marriage guide, answering the various questions that arise on this subject. This is judicious, for in our era one encounters two extreme situations: on the one hand, particularly complicated questions and problems, and on the other hand, a decline in recent times in the studies enabling one to determine the halachah* in accordance with the opinion of the later Decisors, which must be taken into account and who develop their positions most extensively. This is self-evident. Consequently, compilations specifying the different questions, formulating them, and better still citing references for further study, are books that the times require. In fact, this is one of the reasons for the publication of the Sdei Chemed* — a compilation of a great number of later Decisors who rule on the halachah*. Likewise, the importance of publishing the Otzar HaPoskim on Even HaEzer has finally been recognized, even though one may regret that its publication is so slow.

At an auspicious time, I will mention those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, so that each may obtain the satisfaction of his needs, in accordance with what you write.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches for us and for all of Israel, for good and for blessing, I hereby send you and all your family my blessing to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

לאחרי הפסק הארוך נתקבל מכתבו מיום הרביעי, ובטח מכבר קבל מכתבי מענה על מכתבו הקודם אף שאינו מזכיר עד"ז, בו כותב שבימי החופש עזרו אנ"ש בעניני החינוך שבסביבתו, ובודאי ניצל הזדמנות זו כדי להתקרב אתם יותר, והרי על כל חלקי ועניני התומ"צ נאמר בהם שהתועלת הוא דבוק חברים ומרובה מדה טובה בזה שהרבה חברות עושה וכמבואר הענין בארוכה בקונטרס החלצו הידוע, וסיסמא היא בפתגם אדמו"ר האמצעי, שכששני יהודים מתדברים יחד, הרי זה שתי נפשות אלקית על נפש טבעית אחת, וק"ל.

במ"ש אודות לסדר ספר מדריך לנשואין בקשר עם השאלות השונות אשר במחיצתן במקצוע זה, נכון הדבר, כי בתקופתנו נפגשו שתי הקצוות, בעיות ושאלות מסובכות ביותר ומאידך גיסא בהדור הכי אחרון נתמעט ביותר הלימוד בהנוגע להוראה להלכה למעשה בפוסקים האחרונים דוקא, דהלכה כבתראי ובהם באו הדברים מבוארים יותר, וק"ל. ולכן מובן שקובצים המבארים צדדי שאלות ומעוררים עליהם ומה טוב מורים ג"כ הספרים בם נדונה שאלה זו מהספרים ששעה זו מכריחה העסק בהם.

דא"ג זה הי' ג"כ אחד הטעמים בהדפסת השדי חמד בו נקבצו מכמה ספרי פוסקים האחרונים בהנוגע להלכה למעשה וכמו"כ ג"כ מאשר סו"ס עמדו על הנחיצות להוציא אוצר הפוסקים על אבן העזר אף שחבל שהולך הענין לאט כ"כ.

בעת רצון אזכיר את כל אלו שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע כאו"א להמצטרך לו מתאים לתוכן כתבו.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
