To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Chaim Meir (note: Rav Ch. M. Garelik of Kfar Chabad, see letter no. 5664),

Greetings and blessings,

I duly received your letter of 8 Elul, in which you describe the progress of the construction of the mikveh* (note: see letter no. 5664) and the financial difficulties you are facing. I am surprised that you say nothing about the results of the fundraising — whether by letter or by visiting the various places. You speak of making a box. You surely mean that a collection receptacle must be placed near the entrance door.

Here, such an initiative (note: for the fundraising) has never been introduced, and I have already written to several Chassidim* in the Holy Land that a fundraising campaign in the United States can only be envisaged to the extent that someone is present on the spot who speaks and encourages. Subsequently, a letter may be written, in the hope that it will be of some usefulness. How much more so for a totally new institution, located in another place, which therefore does not directly concern the people residing here — except, of course, by virtue of Jewish solidarity. May Hashem grant that you give me good news of your communal accomplishments and your personal achievements.

On the occasion of the new year, which approaches for us and for all of Israel, for good and for blessing, I hereby send you and all your family my blessing to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.

שלום וברכה!

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מח' אלול, בו כותב ע"ד המשך בנין המקוה, הקישוים הכספים שמוצאים בזה.

ולפלא שאינו מזכיר מה היו התוצאות ממה שעשו מגבית הן בכתב והן בביקור במקומות שונים.

במ"ש ע"ד עשיית תיבה, כנראה כוונתו ע"ד פושקע להעמיד על פתח הכניסה.

הנה לא ניסו כאן בכגון דא כלל וכלל, וכבר כתבתי לכמה מאנ"ש מאה"ק ת"ו שמגבית כסף בארצוה"ב דורשת שמי שהוא על אתר ידבר ויעורר ולאחר זה אפשר למכתב וכיו"ב שיועילו וכולי האי ואולי, ובפרט כשהמדובר הוא בענין חדש לגמרי הנמצא במקום אחר ושאין לזה כל שייכות להאנשים כאן (כמובן לבד הענין דכל ישראל ערבים זב"ז), ויה"ר שיבשר טוב בכל הענינים הכללים והפרטים.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולכל אשר לו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
