Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 6 Elul:

A) Should the betrothal be celebrated according to a specific text, when one of the two parties objects?

In general, there is no reason to modify the standard text. Nevertheless, there is also no reason to make it a matter of principle when it has no bearing on the fear of Hashem. Of course, one must determine for what reason someone objects to the customary text.

B) You ask me for a blessing to maintain your integrity.

It is clear that this depends on your determination. The possibility is granted to you, but you must study with ardor and vigor and fulfill the mitzvos* in the best possible manner. It is in this way that you will succeed in increasing the blessings of Hashem in this matter.

C) You tell me that you will not be able to complete the three and a half years.

I do not know to which years you are referring. In any event, you will present your arguments to the administration of the school you attend, which wants your good and judges objectively. You will comply with the opinion you are given. May Hashem grant you success in all of this.

במענה למכתבו מו' אלול.

א) בשאלתו אם לעשות תנאים בנוסח מסוים אשר אחד הצדדים מתנגד לזה וכו'.

בכלל אין לשנות מהנוסח הרגיל, אבל לאידך גיסא גם אין להתעקש בזה באם אין זה נוגע כלל וכלל בעניני יראת שמים ומובן שצריך להתענין מפני מה מי שהוא מתנגד לנוסח שהוא הרגיל.

ב) בקשתו ברכה, שישאר בתמימותו וכו'.

מובן שזה תלוי ברצונו, כי היכולת ניתנה לו בזה אלא שצריך ללמוד בהתמדה ושקידה ולקיים המצות בהידור, ואז מתוסף בברכת השי"ת בהאמור.

ג) מ"ש שאינו יכול לגמור השלש שנים וחצי.

אינו מובן לאיזה שנים כוונתו. ובכל אופן יציע ענינו להנהלת ביה"ס בו לומד, שהרי הם רוצים טובתו ואינם נוגעים בדבר, ויעשה כהוראתם. והשי"ת יצליחו בכל האמור.
