Greetings and blessings,

You ask me in your letter whether you should give me all the details. I am surprised that you could have any doubt in this matter and ask me such a question. In such cases, the more details one provides, the better. You specify that you do not wish to criticize anyone. It seems to me that I have already written (note: see letters no. 4072 and 5336) about how to understand the statement of our Sages that "the Torah* employs refined language" — the example cited in this regard being the ark of Noach*. It is not so, however, for the laws and teachings that it delivers — for example, those of Parshas Shemini*, in which everything is stated precisely: what is pure and what is impure. There is indeed a lesson for us here. When a law or a teaching is at stake, as is the case here, the issue is not to avoid criticizing anyone. You must faithfully carry out your mission. This is self-evident.

You say that with the move into your new apartment, you have contracted debts. Now, you know that the order in which the Torah* is stated is an integral part of it. And one finds in our Torah* the two following statements, stated in proximity to one another: "whoever engages in building becomes impoverished" — and simultaneously, a little before that, on the same page — "whoever does not possess land is not a man." The Tosafos*, at this reference, specify that on this land, one can indeed build a house. And Chassidus* formulates the same statement regarding one who has no house. It follows that one should not be troubled by the fact that one temporarily becomes impoverished. It is said that "the borrower is the servant..." (note: of the one who lent him money). But he does indeed obtain, in this way, fullness and development, even if he is momentarily inconvenienced by it. Ultimately, all of this disappears. May Hashem grant that this perfection of the house manifest itself also in the spiritual domain, as explained in the Chassidic* discourse entitled "Mizmor Shir Chanukas HaBayis*," in the Siddur* and in the Likkutei Torah*. This idea is developed in particular in the sequence of Chassidic* discourses of 5636 (note: 1876, by the Rebbe Maharash).

With my blessing to convey good and detailed news of all this, and to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,
