Blessings and greetings,

After a particularly long interruption, I received your letter from the end of Tammuz, in which you describe briefly — or perhaps even less than briefly — what you have done at the seminary. From what your letter appears to indicate, you were able to verify for yourself that with the appropriate effort, you can achieve success with your students. No doubt this will add ardor and self-sacrifice in the fulfillment of this mission, which has a sacred character, as our Sages emphasize. In this way, you will multiply the blessings of Hashem, including for your personal success.

Your silence on this point indicates that you did not take advantage of the vacation days to reach out to your students. Perhaps you were not even in contact with them. It is regrettable that precisely when these students are free from secular studies, they are not given a generous measure of sacred studies — of course not in the form of formal lessons and classes, but in a manner suited to the vacation period. May Hashem grant that at least in the future, you make efforts in this direction. Despite the commonly accepted notion, this is not an accessory aspect of a school's activity — quite the contrary. Now, nothing can withstand determination, even if it is difficult to accomplish all of this. Of course, by the term "vacations" I also mean Shabbosos*, festival days, especially those of Tishrei*, which have a general impact for the entire year.

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך נתקבל מכתבה משילהי תמוז, בו כותבת ראשי פרקים ואולי עוד פחות מזה מהעבר בהסמינר, וכיון שכנראה ממכתבה זה, נוכחה גם היא לדעת שבהשתדלות המתאימה מצליחים בתלמידות בודאי יתוסף עי"ז עוד יותר במרצה והתמסרותה במלאכה זו מלאכת שמים היא כדברי רז"ל, ועי"ז בודאי יתוסף בברכות השי"ת גם בהצלחתה היא.

כנראה משתיקתה בנקודה זו, לא ניצלו ימי החופש ואפשר גם לא עמדו בקשר עם התלמידות, וחבל על אשר דוקא בימים שהתלמידות פנויות מלימודי חול, אין מעניקים להם במדה רחבה בהנוגע ללימודי קדש, ואף שלא באופי של לימודים ושיעורים, כי אם באופן המתאים לימי חופש. ויהי רצון שעכ"פ לימים יבואו ישתדלו גם בזה, שלמרות דיעה המקובלת לא ענין טפל הוא בפעולות בית הספר, אלא אדרבה, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון אפילו אם ישנם קישוים בהגשמת הדבר. וכוונתי בימי החופש הוא גם לימי השבתות והימים טובים והמועדים דחדש תשרי אשר חודש כללי הוא לכל השנה.
