To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, of many accomplishments, Rav Yehoshua (note: Rav Y. Sheftman of London, see letter no. 4977),

Greetings and blessings,

After an interruption, I received your letter, along with the request for a blessing that accompanied it, which will be read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. I read with pleasure that the situation in England, and more broadly in Europe, demonstrates the great value of disseminating Chassidus* also in Yiddish.

Under separate cover, the first volume of the Tanya*, published in Yiddish, has been sent to you. I am also sending you the transcription of talks (note: see letter no. 5633) delivered to young Jewish children, five or six years old. One finds there fundamental ideas of Chassidus*, the profound teaching of the Torah*. Our holy masters expressed these concepts in terms that small children can understand. Nevertheless, the entirety of the idea is indeed presented. Now, "the righteous are in the image of their Creator," and as you know, the parable of the small and the large images, stated in the Midrash*, enables one to explain the Tzimtzum* — the contraction of the infinite Light of Hashem. Indeed, everything that exists in the large figures has its equivalent in the small figures, without any loss whatsoever. So it is with the matter at hand. May Hashem grant that knowledge increase in Israel, and that we merit very soon the fulfillment of the promise that "all shall know Me, from the smallest to the greatest."

לאחרי ההפסק נתקבל מכתבו עם הפ"נ המוסגר בו שיקרא בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ונעם לי לקרות בו שגם המצב באנגליא ובאירופא בכלל מוכיח התועלת הכי גדולה בהפצת דא"ח גם באידיש, ובחבילה בפ"ע נשלח לכת"ר התניא חלק א' שהו"ל באידיש, כן מוסגר בזה רשימת אחת השיחות לפני בנ"י צעירים (בגיל מחמש ושש שנים) דברים יסודיים בתורת החסידות פנימיות התורה, אלא שרבותינו נשיאנו הק' הלבישו יסודות אלו באותיות המובנות אפילו לילדים קטנים, וביחד עם זה כוללים בהם את הענין כולו, והרי צדיקים דומים לבוראם וכידוע המשל במדרש דמראות קטנות ומראות גדולות מבאר צמצום א"ס ב"ה שדוגמא זו עצמה מוכיחה שכל מה שנראה במראות הגדולות נראה ג"כ במראות הקטנות לא נעדר דבר, וה"ה בהנ"ל ובכגון דא. ויהי רצון שתרבה הדיעה בישראל ונזכה בעגלא דידן לקיום היעוד כי כולם ידעו אותי למקטנם ועד גדולם.
