To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Moshe HaKohen (note: Rav M. Shayevitch of Chicago, see letter no. 4749),
Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter, in which you request a blessing at the request of Mr. Yonah Zusha Eibischitz. In accordance with your request, I am enclosing the response I am sending to him.
You have surely received, for some time now, my letter that responded to your previous correspondence. We are entering the month of Elul*, the month of mercy, and one then begins to recite (note: each day in the morning prayer and in Minchah, during Elul and Tishrei, until Hoshana Rabbah): "Of David: Hashem, You are my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear?" May Hashem therefore grant that this be concretely so here below, for each person within all of Israel. Indeed, Jews in every domain must put into practice the injunction: "In all your ways, acknowledge Him." In this way, they incorporate all things into holiness. And ultimately, the commandments of the Holy One, blessed be He, are fulfilled, so that "what is to be sanctified is already considered as sanctified" — all the more so since Hashem "was, is, and will be" simultaneously (note: He transcends time). He is therefore truly "my light and my salvation" in all these domains.

בטח מכבר קבל מכתבי מענה על מכתבו הקודם, וכיון שנכנסים אנו לחדש אלול הוא חדש הרחמים ומתחילים לאמר לדוד ה' אורי וישעי ממי אירא גו', יהי רצון שיקוים זה בפועל ולמטה מעשרה טפחים ובכל עניניו של כאו"א בתכ"י, שהרי על כל הענינים נצטוו בני ישראל - בכל דרכיך דעהו, ז.א. לעשותם קדושה, וציוויו של הקב"ה סו"ס מתקיימים, וכל העומד להתקדש כקדוש דמי, ובפרט שלמעלה הי' הווה ויהי' כאחד, ובמילא - אורי וישעי בכל ענינים אלו.
