Blessings and greetings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you describe your state of mind, the opinion of the doctors, and your great suffering. I am surprised by all of this. You are still young and you already have the merit of devoting yourself to positive education — that is, of bringing Jewish hearts closer to our Father Who is in Heaven. Now, if a man of flesh and blood is grateful, if he does everything in his power to thank the one who brings the hearts of his children closer to him, how much more so for our Father Who is in Heaven, Who is the Essence of Good and All-Powerful. It is certain that He grants blessing and success to all those who strive to bring the hearts of His children closer to Him. And if "Hashem is with me," it is perfectly clear that "I shall not fear what man can do to me," as our Torah*, Torah of life, affirms.

It is clear that everyone can experience fluctuations, including in their morale. Nevertheless, it is equally certain that one must not aggravate and exaggerate them. An unpleasant sensation is, after all, merely passing, and for it to pass as quickly as possible, one must have recourse to the idea previously described. Moreover, you must recall one of the fundamental principles of our faith, particularly well explained by Chassidus* — that of divine Providence. Indeed, in the most literal sense, Hashem protects each person in all that concerns him, down to the smallest detail.

After the education you have received, I hope that these few lines will be sufficient to bring you to an awareness of the truth. We find ourselves in a world of which the Creator said: "And Hashem saw that it was good," as our great master, the Rambam*, explained at length in his works. However, a person must not wish to draw up numerous accounts, hiding reality and falsifying truth. The central idea of all this is the following: cease thinking about your state of mind! Let your faith in the Creator of the world, Who protects each man and each woman, fill you with vitality, eagerness, and joy in all domains. Lead a simple life, without complicated thoughts. Be happy, on the path of Torah* and mitzvos*.

In anticipation of good news of all this,
