Greetings and blessings,

I received your brief letter some time ago and I am surprised that you write so rarely and in such a concise manner. We have entered the days of which it is said: "Whoever adds receives increase" (note: from the 15th of Av onward, whoever intensifies Torah study receives increased vitality). May Hashem therefore grant that you increase all of this in the proper manner and as soon as possible. Naturally, you may write to me in whatever language you wish, or through an intermediary. The essential thing is that your letters be more frequent and sufficiently detailed.

I am surprised that you say nothing about the rite of prayer. This is an essential point. Moreover, a Rav has the obligation and the merit to ensure that everything is in order (note: see the preceding letter). All the more so in this case, where the Rav possesses knowledge of Chassidus* and knows what it explains regarding prayer, compared to the spinal column of a person. He therefore knows that the rite is important. This question was posed to me by the Chassid*, Rav Chaim Abba Weil, and so as not to repeat myself, I am enclosing the copy of the response I gave him. At the end of my letter, I ask him to speak with you about it.

My purpose is therefore solely to emphasize once more that from all of this, no great dispute should result — nor even a small one. In general, it is preferable to adopt a simple approach: that is, to increase the number of Siddurim* of the Ari* rite in the synagogue and, above all, on the lectern (note: of the prayer leader). Indeed, in several synagogues, there is a custom of placing a particular Siddur* there, of large format, attached by a cord or chain. If this one is of the Ari* rite, it will take its place and people will grow accustomed to it over time. May Hashem grant that you convey good news of this, in addition to those of the Talmud Torah*.

נתקבל זה מכבר מכתבו הקצר אודות הפעולות, ולפלא שכותב לעתים רחוקות ביותר וגם אז בקיצור נמרץ, ויה"ר שכיון שנכנסנו לימים עליהם נאמר כל המוסיף מוסיפין לו, יוסיף גם בהנ"ל ככל הדרוש, והלואי שיהי' זה בקרוב ממש, ומובן ופשוט שיכול לכתוב בכל לשון שרוצה או ע"י ממוצע ובלבד שיהי' מכתבים לעתים תכופות מפורטים די צרכם.

לפלא שלא כתב דבר בהנוגע לענין נוסח התפלה, והלא דבר עיקר הוא ומחובתו וזכותו של הרב שיהי' זה בסדר גמור, ובפרט כשהרב ידיעה לו בתורת החסידות ובהביאורים שבה בנוגע לענין התפלה שהוא בדוגמת חוט השדרה באדם, ובמילא מובן עד כמה נוגע הנוסח, וכיון ששאלה בזה הגיעתני גם מהוו"ח [מו"ה חיים אבא שי' ווייל], הרי בכדי שלא להכפיל הדבר מצו"פ המענה שנשלח אליו ובסיום מכתבי אליו, שבטח ידבר עמו בזה, ולא באתי בזה אלא להדגיש עוה"פ שצריך - לא לעשות מהעסק מחלוקת גדולה וגם לא אפילו קטנה, ובכלל נכון יותר לסדר הדברים בדרך פשיטות, ז.א. שיתרבה מספר הסידורים דנוסח אר"י בביהכ"נ והעיקר על העמוד אשר ע"ד מנהג כמה בתכ"נ שישנו סידור גדול מיוחד להעמוד (מחובר בחבל ושלשלת וכיו"ב) שאם זה יהי' בנוסח אר"י הרי יקנה מקומו וסו"ס יתרגלו לזה, ויה"ר שיבשר טוב בכל האמור נוסף על הבשו"ט בעניני הת"ת.
