Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you speak of your move to the city of Cholon and the difficulties you have encountered with your grocery store. There are two points in your letter that may explain these difficulties:

A) There is a risk of unfair competition, which must be verified with a Rav who rules on halachah*, in order to determine whether it must be taken into account and, if so, how it can be rectified.

B) You write that you sealed up a door. As you know, the testament of Rabbi Yehudah HaChassid*, chapter 20, states that one must never fully seal (note: see letter no. 4561) a window or a door (note: the Rebbe adds at the bottom of the page: "When such a closure is necessary, there is a teaching of our holy masters, well known among Chassidim, according to which one makes an opening on both sides at the place of the closure, with a tube or an iron rod, even a solid one. Afterward, one may seal up this opening").

One may suppose that if these two points are rectified, your situation will improve. May Hashem grant that you inform me of good news of all this, through the increase in Torah* and mitzvos*, since "whoever adds (note: in effort) receives increase (note: in blessings)."

במענה על מכתבו בו כותב אודות העתקתו לעיר חולון והקשויים שנתקל בהם בעניני החנות מכולת שלו.

והנה ב' נקודות במכתבו שאפשר שהן הסבה להקשויים האמורים, והם:

א) חשש דהשגת גבול, וצריך לברר זה אצל רב מורה הוראה בישראל אם יש מקום לחשש זה ובאם כן באיזה אופן לתקנו.

ב) כותב שסתם דלת, וידוע בצוואת ר' יהודא החסיד סי' כ' שאין סותמים חלון או פתח לגמרי*.

ויש מקום לומר שכשיתוקנו ב' נקודות הנ"ל יוטב מצבו, ויה"ר שיבשר טוב בהנ"ל ובהוספה בעניני תורה ומצותי' שכל המוסיף מוסיפין לי'.
