Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 16 Menachem Av. I thank you for the good news that the study program has been put in order and strengthened. Surely you do not content yourself with this alone. You are, moreover, familiar with the principle of elevation in the domain of holiness.

How much more so when it concerns students. Indeed, the slightest development among them is multiplied many times over when they, in turn, exert an influence, as explained in the note on the inauguration of Gan Israel* (note: see letter no. 5633 and Likkutei Sichos* vol. 2, p. 596). Moreover, there now applies the injunction that "whoever adds (note: effort to serve Hashem) receives increase (note: in blessings)," from "the day the axe was broken" (note: the 15th of Av; past this date, no more wood could be cut for Temple offerings, as the cooling days might cause it to become wormy), which is a festival, as stated in the Tosefta* at the end of Tractate Taanis*.

May Hashem grant that you invest your deep and essential strengths in your students. Thus you will observe the fruit of your effort in an increased measure, in all that concerns you — as illustrated by the image of a spring that fills itself as one draws its water (note: the more one gives to others, the more one possesses oneself).

ת"ח על הבשורה טובה שהוסדר והוחזק סדר הלימודים בודאי אין מסתפק בזה אלא מעלין בקדש ובפרט בהנוגע לתלמידים שכל שינוי בהם לטוב נכפל כ"פ ככה כשנעשים גם למשפיעים, וע"ד המבואר בהרשימה דחנוכת הבית דגן ישראל, ובפרט שזה עתה הציווי דכל המוסיף מוסיפין ביום תבר מגלא שהוא יום טוב וכתוספת סוף תענית יעו"ש. ויהי רצון שישקיע במושפעיו מהכחות הפנימים והעצמים שלו ויראה פרי טוב בעמלו בהם וגם בתוספת בכל אשר לו, וכמבואר בהמשל ממעין, שע"י שאיבת מים ממנו מתוסף עוד בהמעין.
