Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from this Sunday, in which you describe your state of health, particularly regarding your eyes.

From your description, it appears to be glaucoma, and the customary approach in such cases is to operate, including a second time if necessary — naturally, based on the opinion of a physician specialized in this field. There are several in the Holy Land. You should consult them, for "the Torah has authorized the physician to heal." In accordance with the teaching of our Sages, a favorable practice for restoring the light of the eyes is the recitation of Kiddush* and Havdalah* specifically over wine.

You ask me about the marriage of a younger sister before that of her elder. In our era of deep and intense darkness — the era of ikvesa d'Meshicha* (the footsteps of Moshiach*) — when the son of David will come once all the souls are vested in bodies, the elder sister will sincerely forgive her. There is no reason to doubt this. It would be good for her to do so in writing, or in the presence of two reliable witnesses. In this way, such conduct may be permitted. Naturally, the groom must be one who fears Hashem. In addition to this pardon, it would be good for the younger sister and her parents to set aside a certain sum toward the marriage of the elder sister, when she becomes engaged at a good and fruitful time.

You surely know of the three daily studies that apply to everyone — the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya* — which are well known. At the very least, you will adopt them from now on.

במענה על מכתבו מיום הראשון, בו כותב אודות מצב בריאותו ובפרט בהנוגע לעינים.

וכפי שמתאר המיחוש כנראה שזהו הנקרא גלאוקאמע ורגילים בכגון דא לעשות נתוח גם פעם שני', אף שכמובן זקוקים בזה להוראת רופא מהיותר מומחים במקצוע דוקא, וישנם כמה מסוג זה באה"ק ת"ו, וישאלם, והתורה נתנה רשות לרופא לרפאות.

וידוע אחת הסגולות בכגון דא ע"פ מרז"ל למאור עיניו של אדם, זהירות בקידוש והבדלה על היין.

לשאלתו אודות נשואי הצעירה לפני הבכירה - הנה בימינו אלה חשך כפול ומכופל עקבתא דמשיחא, אשר בן דוד בא כשיכלו כל הנשמות שבגוף, הרי אם תמחול הבכירה מחילה גמורה, ומה טוב בכתב או בפני עדים כשרים, התירו הדבר, כמובן שהחתן יהי' ירא שמים וכו', ומהנכון שנוסף על המחילה, הרי הבת הצעירה וכן ההורים של הבנות, ישלישו איזה סכום להוצאות החתונה של הבכירה כשתשתדך בשעה טובה ומוצלחת.

בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים, וישמור עליהם עכ"פ מכאן ולהבא.
