I am replying to your letter of 23 Tammuz*, in which you consider two possibilities for renting a space to establish a cheder*. It is quite clear that an anonymous lease, which always leaves one vulnerable to pressure, is not at all satisfactory.

Regarding the name of this school, one may ask whether it is advisable to choose it now, which would give it a certain orientation from the outset. The advantage is that those who are foreign to this orientation will immediately realize they have nothing to do there. But the disadvantage is that it may repel those who do not wish to publicly affirm their connection with this orientation. You will make your decision based on this — that is, taking into account the more decisive factor in your region. If you decide to give it a name and if you are certain that this school will endure, that it will function properly, you should call it Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch* and integrate it into the network of the same name.

You tell me that you intend to bring closer certain people whose influence one might fear if they have a say in the direction of the school. In this regard, the precaution to take is quite simple. These people must provide their help without being able to intervene in the moral direction of this institution.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ג תמוז, בו כותב על דבר שתי האפשריות לשכירת מקום בשביל החדר.

מובן אשר שכירת מקום בהעלם שם ועל ידי זה יהי' תמיד מורא של לחץ וכו' אינה כדאית כלל.

בענין שם המוסד, צ"ע אם כדאי לקבעו תיכף שזה יניח עליו חותם מסויים, שהצד החיובי שבזה שאלה הזרים לרוח רותם זה יראו תיכף שאין להם יד בו, אבל גם הצד שלילי שזה עלול למנוע השתתפות אנשים כאלה שאין רוצים שבגלוי יאמרו עליהם שהם שייכים למסגרת זו. ובהתאם לזה, היינו איזה מהטעמים מכריע עכשו בסביבתו, יחליטו. ואם יחליטו לקרות לו שם ובטוחים יהיו שהמוסד יהי' בר קיימא ויתנהל כדבעי, יש לקראו בשם אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש ולהכניסו לרשת זו.

במה שכותב שברצונו לקרב גם אנשים כאלה שיש לחשוש להשפעתם באם יחוו דיעה בהנהלת המוסד, הנה ההבטחה (באווארעניש) בזה פשוטה - על ידי זה שמנצלים עזרתם באופן שלא תהי' להם השפעה רוחנית בהנהלת המוסד.
