Concerning the possibility of leaving a Sefer Torah* that has not been corrected (note: in the synagogue, after an error has been found, with the risk that it might be read once again) — by making a modification, for example by placing the belt above the mantle (note: see also letter no. 5046) — there is a discussion in the responsa Minchas Elazar*, volume 3, chapter 52, and Zecher Yehosef*, chapter 37, whose conclusion is that this is permitted.
No proof can be drawn from the Sefer Chassidim*, chapter 934. Indeed, that work refers to those that are torn or erased, which is different, since no incident can result from them (note: since it is impossible to read from them). However, one may still raise questions on this matter.
