I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 22 Sivan*, in which you contemplate spending the coming month of Tishrei* here (note: this letter was addressed to many people who posed this same question to the Rebbe). You know my opinion on this subject. Several conditions must be met:

A) You must, of course, obtain the full agreement of your wife.

B) You must not thereby reduce the indispensable household expenses.

C) You must consult with the administration of the institution in which you carry out your sacred mission, so that your journey does not cause harm to your activity, Heaven forbid.

D) This journey must also have a benefit for everyone (note: see letter no. 5156), which means that upon your return, this visit and all that follows from it must be felt in your surroundings, through the dissemination of the study of Chassidus*, the adoption of its practices and customs.

If all these conditions are met, you may look into this journey.

You surely maintain the three studies that concern everyone, established by my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit* protects us. These concern the Chumash*, Tehillim* and Tanya* and are well known.

במענה למכתבו מכ"ב סיון, בו כותב אודות הסברא להיות כאן במשך ימי תשרי הבע"ל.

וכבר ידועה דעתי בזה, אשר כמה תנאים לדבר.

א) מובן שצריך להיות בהסכמתה המלאה של זוגתו תחי', ב) שלא ילחוץ על ההוצאה בעניני בית הנחוצים, ג) התדברות עם הנהלת הענינים בם משרת בקדש באופן שע"י הנסיעה לא יוגרם שום היזק ח"ו להענינים, ד) בנסיעה זו צריכה להיות גם תועלת הרבים, ז.א. אשר בחזירתו תורגש הנסיעה ותוצאותי' בסביבתו ע"י התפשטות לימוד החסידות והליכה בהדרכותי' ומנהגי' ורק באם כל תנאים הנ"ל במציאות יש להתענין בהנסיעה.

בטח שומר שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר
