To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav* Aryeh Leib (note: Rav A.L. Lipsker of Lod; see also letters nos. 910 and 973),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter from Motzaei Shabbos*, in which you tell me that the activity of the Chabad* women in your city has weakened.

I enclose a copy of my letter addressed to all of them on the occasion of the convention of the Chabad* women and girls. You will surely find the words to explain it in the appropriate manner in your surroundings. It is necessary not only to strengthen the activity that has been conducted until now, but also to develop it. It is therefore a certainty that you have the means to do so. Of course, one must take advantage of the propitious days of 12 and 13 Tammuz*, recalling how the one whose joy we celebrate, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit* protects us, regarded the fundamental mission entrusted to women.

You refer to the festive meal of mitzvah* (note: on the occasion of the Bar Mitzvah* of Rav Lipsker's son, which was to take place on 8 Menachem Av*). One must verify whether there is a local custom in such a case. If not, you will set it in its proper time — that is, the eve of 8 Menachem Av*. If this is impossible for any reason, it will be the following Shabbos*.

May Hashem* grant that from the age of thirteen, he reach that of fifteen and the study of Gemara*. May you and your wife derive from him and from all your children much true satisfaction — that is, a Jewish and Chassidic* satisfaction.

במענה על מכתבו ממוצש"ק, בו כותב אודות חלישות עניני עבודת נשי חב"ד אשר במחנם הט'.

הנה מוסגר פה העתק מכתבי כללי לאסיפת נשי ובנות חב"ד שבטח ימצא ע"ז אותיות מסבירות כפי הדרוש בסביבתו, וכיון שמוכרח לא רק ביסוס העבודה דעד עתה אלא גם הגדלתה, בודאי שניתנו האפשריות על זה וכמובן יש לנצל שעת הכושר ימי החג י"ב וי"ג תמוז הבע"ל בהדגשת יחס בעל השמחה כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע לתפקידן הכי נעלה של נשי ובנות חב"ד.

ובמ"ש אודות הסעודת מצוה, יש לברר אם יש מנהג במקום בכגון דא, ובאם לאו הרי יש לעשותה בזמנה, ז.א. ליל ח' מנ"א, ובאם אי אפשר מאיזה טעם שיהי', בשבת שלאחריו.

ויהי רצון שמבן י"ג למצות יגדל לבן חמש עשרה לגמרא וכו' וירוו הוא וזוג' שיחיו ממנו ומכל יו"ח שיחיו רוב נחת אמיתי הוא נחת יהודי חסידותי.
