To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, of manifold accomplishments, filled with eagerness, Rav* Shlomo (note: Rav Sh. Matusof of Casablanca, Morocco; see also letter no. 5403),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letters of 25 Iyar*, 5 Sivan* and the eve of the time of the giving of our Torah*. I await good news of the manner in which you are taking advantage of this propitious and fruitful time to strengthen and develop your communal achievements and your personal accomplishments, the one depending on the other. A brief reflection suffices to establish this, and you have surely already observed it. You have noticed that success far surpasses what you anticipated. If you achieve elevation in the domain of holiness, in accordance with the injunction of our Torah*, I have good hope that this success itself will expand. Indeed, commenting on the verse "He speaks His Words to Yaakov*," our Sages underscore that "He Himself does what He commands Yisrael* to accomplish." This is self-evident.

Although you say nothing of it, I hope, based on the experience of past years, that you are preparing a detailed program for the vacation period and the reception of students from all backgrounds. It is regrettable that there is no news of the activities of the Chabad* women in your surroundings. I enclose a copy of my letter addressed to all of them on the occasion of the annual convention of Chabad* women and girls here. May Hashem* grant that the Chabad* women of Morocco be inspired by it and multiply their activities. I would like to believe that at least in this matter, these Chabad* women will include all those with whom they have any contact, however brief.

With my blessing to convey good news of all this, with a true breadth of spirit,

I have duly received your letter of 25 Sivan*, with what was enclosed. I place my trust in my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, and I am certain that very soon you will announce good news to me of what you write. What of the hundred or more books that you were to acquire (note: Rav Matusof had written that he selected more than a hundred books for the Rebbe, and negotiations over the price were continuing)? And the rest?

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתביו מכ"ה אייר וחמישי בסיון ערב זמן מ"ת ואצפה לבשו"ט מניצול זמן מסוגל ומוצלח זה לביסוס והתפתחות עניניהם הכללים והפרטים אשר הא בהא תליא כמובן אפילו בהתבוננות קלה בטח כבר נוכחו ומכבר אשר מצליחים למעלה מהמשוער, ותקותי חזקה אשר כשיהיו מעלין בקדש כציווי תוה"ק ודאי שגם ההצלחה מלמעלה תלך ותתוסף ע"ד מרז"ל מגיד דבריו ליעקב גו' שמה שמצווה לישראל לעשות עושה בעצמו, וק"ל.

אף שאינו מזכיר עד"ז תקותי על יסוד הנסיון שלהם בשנים שעברו שמכינים תכנית מפורטה בהנוגע לימי החופש וקליטת תלמידים-ות מכל החוגים...

מצער שכל הזמן אין נשמע כלל מפעולות נשי חב"ד בסביבתם. ומוסג"פ העתק מכתבי כללי לאסיפה השנתית של נשי חב"ד כאן. ויה"ר שזה יעורר את כל נשי חב"ד אשר במרוקה להוספה בפעולות. ורצוני לקוות שבענין זה עכ"פ יכללו נשי חב"ד את כל אותן שבאות עמהן במגע איזה שיהי', אפילו מגע לזמן קצר.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור מתוך הרחבת הדעת אמיתית,
