To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* Yisrael (note: Rav Y. Gordon of Worcester),

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of 27 Sivan*, with what was enclosed. May Hashem* grant that the day camp (note: "day camp" appears in English in the original) begin at a good and fruitful moment, materially and spiritually. You will take advantage of the vacation days from secular studies, granted by the country's legislation, in order to instill in all who attend this camp and, through them, in their families, a spirit of purity, fear and love of Hashem*, love of Torah* and love of one's fellow.

It is said regarding the name Yisrael* (note: the name borne by the camp — Gan Israel): "You have struggled with angels (Elokim*), with men, and you have prevailed." Elokim* has the same numerical value as HaTeva* (nature). Regarding men, it is said: "One must not be affected by those who mock," as the beginning of all the sections of the Tur* and the Shulchan Aruch* affirms.

It is also said: "You shall choose life," and Chassidus* explains that these words are both an injunction and a promise. We have been given the assurance that by making the decision to choose life, one achieves success. And the masters of Chassidus* came to add light and vitality to all of this, so that this success be joyous and enthusiastic — not only for the soul but also for the body, as it is said: "You shall surely help him."

Without doubt, the reward of those who devote themselves to this and make efforts will be evident in all their needs — children, health and prosperity.

With my blessing to convey good news of your communal achievements and your personal accomplishments,

יהי רצון שתהי' התחלת הדעי קעמפ בשעה טובה ומוצלחת בגשמיות וברוחניות, וינצלו ימי החופש, אפילו ע"פ חוקי המדינה, מלימודי חול - בשביל להחדיר בכל אלו אשר בהדעי קעמפ ועל ידם למשפחותיהם, רוח טהרה ורוח יראה אהבת השם אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל, וכמ"ש בשם ישראל, כי שרית עם אלקים - בגימטריא הטבע - ואנשים - שאל יבוש מפני המלעגים (כהתחלת כל חלקי טור ושו"ע) - ותוכל, וכמ"ש ובחרת בחיים, ומבואר בתורת החסידות שזהו לשון ציווי וגם הבטחה, שהובטחנו שבאם רק מחליטים לבחור בחיים מצליחים בזה, ובאו נשיאי תורת החסידות והוסיפו אור וחיות בזה שההצלחה תהי' בשמחה ובטוב לבב, ולא רק של הנשמה אלא עזוב תעזוב עמו, גם של הגוף.

ובודאי שיומשך גם שכר המתעסקים והמשתדלים בזה בגלוי, בהמצטרך להם בבני חיי ומזוני רוויחי.
