To Mrs. Rivka (note: Mrs. R. Hecht, of New Haven),

Blessings and greetings,

I am responding to your two letters — that of 11 Sivan and the preceding one — with their contents, for which you will find the receipts enclosed herewith.

May Hashem grant that for many more years, you and your husband, the Rav (note: Rav Moshe Yitzchak Hecht), whom Hashem should grant long life, will increase tzedakah* in an ever-growing manner, materially and spiritually, by influencing those around you to bring them closer to the Torah and its mitzvos*, in accordance with the needs and the necessity of the moment. It is certain that the One Who gives the Torah and the mitzvos, acting "measure for measure" (note: in the manner one acts toward Him) — but in greatly increased proportion — will intensify His blessing in all your needs and those of the members of your family, in every detail.

You were present at the Chassidic gathering (farbrengen*) at the time of the giving of our Torah. I hope that you listened to the talk (note: see Sichos Kodesh 5717, p. 337) on the merit and responsibility of Chabad women with all the proper attention, and that it will enable you to increase your activities. Indeed, the Mishnah says: "The deed is essential" (Avos 1:17).

ברכה ושלום!

במענה על שני מכתבי' מי"א סיון והקודמו עם המוסגר בהם שמצורפות בזה הקבלות.

ויהי רצון אשר רבות בשנים יוכלו היא ובעלה הרב שליט"א להרבות בצדקה הלוך ומוסיף בצדקה כפשוטו ובצדקה רוחנית, זאת אומרת השפעה בסביבתם לקרבם לתורה ולמצותי' מתאים לדרישת וגם הכרח השעה ובודאי אשר נותן התורה והמצוה שמדתו כנגד מדה אלא שכמה פעמים ככה, ירבה בברכתו בהמצטרך להם ולכל בני ביתם שיחיו בכל הפרטים.

כיון שהיתה בעת ההתועדות דזמן מתן תורתנו, תקותי שהשיחה בהנוגע לזכותן ואחריותן של נשי חב"ד שמעה בשימת לב הדרושה, ותביא להוספה במעשה וכדבר משנה, המעשה הוא העיקר.
