Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 4 Sivan, with the request for a blessing that it contained. I read its conclusion with pleasure. Indeed, you tell me that you commit to doing what you are told regarding the content of your letter.

Now, what is asked of you is quite clear. You must study the revealed dimension of the Torah and Chassidus* with ardor and constancy, in accordance with the Yeshiva* program and the instructions of your teacher, the dean, and the spiritual guide — without evasion, without advancing pretexts. You must fulfill the mitzvos* in the best way, as Chassidus demands. And everything depends on you, on whether you truly want it. Your responsibility is great, considering your lineage. It is surely unnecessary to say more.

You will have proof that you are accomplishing all this in the proper manner when your friends imitate your example in their study, in their practice of the best kind, in the three domains of the service of Hashem that are Torah, prayer, and good deeds — upon which rest both the great world and the small world that is man. May Hashem grant that you soon inform me of good news regarding all of this, which will enable you to also give good news regarding the request for a blessing contained in your letter.

במענה על מכתבו מד' סיון עם הפ"נ המוסגר בו, ובנועם קראתי בסיום מכתבו אשר מקבל עליו מה שיצווה בקשר עם תוכן מכתבו, ומובן גם כן במה הוא מצוה, היינו לימוד התורה בהתמדה ושקידה הן בנגלה והן בחסידות מתאים לסדרי הישיבה ולהוראות הר"מ הר"י והמשפיע, ומבלי כל השתמטות ואמתלאות בזה, וקיום המצות בהידור חסידותי, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא בידו וברצונו באמת, וגדולה אחריותו בהביאו בחשבון גזע צור מחצבתו, ובודאי האריכות בזה אך למותר. וההוכחה שמקיים הנ"ל כדבעי היא שחבריו ילמדו ממנו בהנוגע ללימודם הם וקיום המצות בהידור בכל שלשת הקוים דתורה עבודה וגמילות [חסדים] שעליהם העולם (גדול וגם העולם קטן הוא האדם) עומד. ויהי רצון שבקרוב יבשר טוב בהנ"ל שבודאי תביאנה ג"כ לבשו"ט בהנוגע לתוכן הפ"נ שבמכתבו.
