Igrot Kodesh · Letter 537 — Torah and Chassidus Class Organization

By the grace of Hashem,

28 Tishrei 5710,

To the distinguished Chassid*, who fears Hashem,

Rav Z.[1],

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter and the publications you sent me. I thank you for them.

You ask me to provide guidance on how to organize Torah* and Chassidus* classes. Here is my counsel:

1) Begin with introductory classes accessible to all. Chassidus* teaches that one must meet each person where they are spiritually.

2) Classes must be regular and held at the same times each week, so as to create a habit.

3) One must choose texts suited to the level of the participants. For beginners, start with the basic concepts of Jewish faith, as they are set forth in the Tanya*.

4) The teacher must be a living example of what he teaches.

בנוגע לשאלתו אודות נסיעה והסתדרות ,נראה לי שיושיב שלושה

ידידים טובים שלו ,ויספר להם בפרטיות אודות המצב ,ושתהי׳ ההחלטה

שלהם כפי שטוב לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות.

אם יוכל לסדר ,רצוי שהן השלושה והן הוא ,כמובן ,יאמרו לפני הדיון
