To the great Rav, of many accomplishments, the Shochet* N. M.

I greet you and bless you,

We have duly received your letter, with the list of members of the Mishnah* by heart group and the Tehillim* group.

We thank you for participating in our accomplishments and we express the wish that in the future, you will redouble your ardor in helping us seek the good of all.

A short time ago, the Mishnah to be learned by heart was distributed by lottery and you will find enclosed your membership card. To all those you registered in the Mishnah by heart group, we are sending this card directly to their address. And we also transmit the names of those who belong to the Tehillim group to Jerusalem.

You asked us to send the conversations with the youth to three people whose addresses you communicated to us. We hope they receive them in time. You will find enclosed the invoice concerning these subscriptions.

We hope to have good news of your accomplishments, since your last letter, in the areas of action of Machane Yisrael* and the Merkaz LeInyonei Chinuch*.

The Parshah* of this week, Tetzaveh*, evokes the obligation for the Kohen* to light a perpetual flame, "until the flame rises by itself." At the present time, this has an implication for the service of Hashem. Our Sages explain that the Menorah*, made entirely of gold, alludes to the people of Israel, as it is said "you are entirely beautiful, my beloved."

The Kohen is the one who has been chosen by Hashem to serve Him, in the domain of holiness. It is therefore his duty to light these lights, to illuminate the "lamp of Hashem (which) is the soul of man" for all those he knows, then to light it again, until "the flame rises by itself" and the presence of a guide is no longer necessary. Moreover, these lights must shine until the morning, that is to say until the advent of the World to Come, which "will be entirely morning."

קבלנו מכתבו עם רשימת החברים לחברת משניות בע"פ וחברת תהלים.

מודים אנו לו על השתתפותו בעבודתנו, ומקוים כי להבא עוד יוסיף אומץ לעזור לנו בעבודת זיכוי הרבים.

זה לא מכבר היתה הגרלת משניות בע"פ, ומצרפים אנו לו בזה את כרטיס החבר, לשאר הנרשמים ע"י כמ"ע לחברת משניות בע"פ שולחים אנו את כרטיסיהם ע"פ כתבותיהם. גם האנשים המובאים ברשימתו לחברת תהלים נשלח שמם לירושלים ת"ו.

צוינו לשלוח את השמועסן לשלשת האנשים אשר שלח לנו את כתבותיהם, ובודאי מקבלים אותם במועדם, מצרפים אנו בזה את החשבון עבור זה.

נשמח לשמוע ממנו ע"ד פעולותיו הטובות בעניני "מחנה ישראל", ו"מרכז לעניני חינוך" מזמן כתבו את מכתבו אלינו עד עתה.

וידוע בדיני פרשת שבוע זה ואתה תצוה גו' להעלות נר תמיד, שהכהן צריך להדליק הנרות עד שתהא שלהבת עולה מאלי', וענין זה בעבודת האדם בימינו אלה - הנה אמרו (פסיקתא הובאה בילקוט שמעוני זכרי' ד') מנורת זהב כולה אלו ישראל שנאמר כולך יפה רעיתי, והכהן, היינו מי שחננו ה' ובחר בו לשרת לפניו בקדש (יעוין רמב"ם סוף הלכות שמיטה ויובל) עליו להשתדל בהדלקת הנרות, להדליק את הנר ה' נשמת אדם של מכיריו ומיודעיו - ולחזור ולהדליקו עד שתהא שלהבת י' של אור תורה ומצות עולה כבר בהם מאלי', ולא יצטרכו עוד למוכיח ומעורר, ושיעור הדלקה הוא עד בוקר - זה עולם הבא שכולו בוקר (ירושלמי חגיגה פ"ב ה"א).
