Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter, in which you ask whether you should continue your studies at the yeshivah*. Indeed, it happens that you fall asleep during study time.
It is quite evident that this is a stratagem of the evil inclination, which desires to disturb a person in his service of Hashem* by every means, including the most unexpected — even convincing him that he is incapable of serving Him in the proper manner, for example, in your case, because you fall asleep.
You will request of the yeshivah administration that you be given a study partner, and you will learn with enthusiasm (see note 1), as our Sages explain in Tractate Eruvin* 54a, regarding the verse: "Integrated in its entirety and preserved" (see note 2).
If you truly desire this, the promise will be fulfilled for you: "If you make efforts, they will be crowned with success" (see note 3).
With my blessing,
For the Rebbe, shlita*,
the secretary,
Notes
(1) Thanks to the stimulation of this study partner.
(2) If the Torah is integrated by all the limbs of the body, one can retain it — and, in this case, not fall asleep during study time.
(3) Everything therefore depends on the motivation.
