To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*,

devotes himself to communal needs, and is filled

with eagerness, Rav Menachem Ben Tzion* (see note 1),

director general of the relief fund of Chicago,

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter from the eve of Shabbos* Parshas Bo*, 2 Shevat, together with the grant given by the relief fund to our holy institutions Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch in North Africa, and I thank you very much for it.

I also read with pleasure in your letter that the grant from this fund for our yeshivos* in the Holy Land has been increased this year. May Hashem grant that each year you be in a position to experience an ascent in the domain of holiness — in the activity of this fund in general and in the aid granted to our institutions in particular — not only in accordance with their development and expansion, but even in still wider proportions, in order to enable the growth and the progress to continue, for all of this depends solely on financial resources (see note 2).

Every element, great or small, depends on the Providence of the Creator. How much more so is this the case for what concerns the Torah and the mitzvos*, illuminated by the inner dimension and the luminary of this Torah (see note 3). Nothing is more important than this.

In this case, one must observe that the grant from the relief fund comes several days before the hilula* of 10 Shevat, that of my father-in-law, the Rebbe — tzaddik*, pillar of the world — whose holy institutions in North Africa bear his name, leader of these institutions, who intercedes and prays for all who participate in his work and support his accomplishments, particularly on the propitious day of his hilula, when he remembers all those who act and cause others to act.

Be happy — you yourself, your colleagues who direct this relief fund, and all those who participate in this great work, who support the institutions of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. You in particular are the director general of this relief fund, and the merit of all therefore depends upon you and upon them.

These institutions are the receptacles and the channels revealing the blessing and the success in all that you accomplish, for all your needs and those of the members of your family. You will therefore receive all good — a visible and tangible good.

הנני בזה לאשר ברוב תודה קבלת מכתבו מיום ועש"ק בא, ב' שבט, בצירוף הקצבת קרן הצלה עבור מוסדותינו הק' אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש אשר בצפון אפריקה.

גם קראתי בנועם במכתבו אשר הגדילו בשנה זו הקצבת קרן הצלה לישיבותינו באה"ק ת"ו, ויהי רצון שיוכלו לקיים מעלין בקדש מדי שנה בשנה בעבודת קרן הצלה בכלל ובעזרתם לכל מוסדותינו בפרט, לא רק בהתאם למדת התפתחותם והתרחבותם, אלא בממדים גדולים יותר כדי לאפשר מדה יתרה של גדול ופריחה, שאין הדבר תלוי אלא באמצעים כספיים.

כיון שכל דבר גדול וקטן הכל בהשגחת הבורא ית', ובפרט בענינים הנוגעים לתורה ומצוות כפי שהם מוארים בפנימיות ובמאור שבתורה, שאין לך דבר גדול מזה, הרי ראוי לציין אשר הקצבת קרן הצלה באה איזה ימים לפני יום ההילולא די' שבט של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר צדיק יסוד עולם, שעל שמו נקראים המוסדות הק' בצפון אפריקא, בעל המוסדות הנושא רנה ותפלה בעד כל המשתתפים בעבודתו ותומכים במוסדותיו, ובפרט ביום הסגולה הוא יום ההילולא, אשר זכר כל העושים ומעשים בא לפניו.

ואשרי לכת"ר וחבריו בהנהלת קרן הצלה וכל המשתתפים במפעלם הרם שזכו להיות מתומכי מוסדות של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, וכת"ר בפרט בתור מנהל כלכלי של קרן הצלה, אשר זכות הרבים תלוי בו ובהם, ומוסדות אלו הם הכלים והצנורות להמשיך ברכה והצלחה בכל מעשה ידיהם ובכל המצטרך להם ולבני ביתם שיחיו בכל מילי דמיטב בטוב הנראה והנגלה.
