To the young Asher Massoud Nejar* (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I read with pleasure your letter, in which you inform me of the creation of an association of yeshivah* students. Its objective will surely conform to the words of the prayer: "They will all form an assembly (see note 2) in order to fulfill Your will with a whole heart."

If one truly desires this, not only does one achieve success for oneself, but one moreover succeeds in influencing one's friends and surroundings, so that all of them, in turn, fulfill the will of Hashem* with a whole heart.

You write to me that you have adopted the customs of Chabad*. You surely mean also that your conduct is based on the spirit of Chabad, whose two fundamental principles are: "You shall love Hashem your Elokim*" and "You shall love your fellow as yourself." I hope that this will also bring you vitality and eagerness in all that has been said.

May Hashem grant that you achieve success, that you redouble your ardor in the study of our holy Torah, in the practice of its mitzvos* in the finest manner, and that you encourage your friends to do the same.

Hashem will grant you success in conveying good tidings of all this.

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו בו כותב מיסוד אגודת תלמידי הישיבות ובודאי מטרת אגודה זו כלשון התפלה ויעשו כולם אגודה אחת לעשות רצונך בלבב שלם, וכשרוצים באמת מצליחים לא רק בהנוגע לעצמו אלא גם להשפיע על החברים ועל כל הסביבה שגם הם יעשו רצון המקום בלבב שלם, וכפי שכותב שקבל מנהגי חב"ד בודאי כוונתו להתנהג גם ברוח חב"ד אשר שנים מהיסודות בזה הם. ואהבת את ה' אלקיך וגו' ואהבת לרעך כמוך, תקותי שיתוסף גם עי"ז חיות ומרץ בהענין האמור ויה"ר שיהי' בהצלחה ויוסיף אומץ בלימוד תוה"ק וקיום מצותי' בהידור וגם על חבריו ישפיע בזה והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
