To Mrs. Esther* (see note 1),

Blessings and greetings,

I am responding to your letter, and one confers merit upon a naturally propitious day and a favorable period. Indeed, I received your correspondence several days before the hilula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us (see note 2).

Divine Providence has enabled you to use your abilities in institutions that bear his name and are directed in his spirit. Now, if the shepherds of Israel invoke the mercy of Hashem* for every Jew so that he may receive the satisfaction of his needs, how much more so do they do for those who bring their participation and contribution to the institutions of these shepherds of Israel. This is the greatest pleasure one can give to their souls.

The competence of a shepherd is to adapt the pasture to the flock (see note 3), according to the well-known statement of our Sages in Midrash Shemos Rabbah*, chapter 2, paragraph 2. In this manner were Dovid* tested, as well as Moshe* our master, the faithful shepherd. The same is true for all the shepherds of Israel, whose essential concern is the good they bring, through their prayer, to those who are in need — a visible and tangible good, materially and spiritually.

Moreover, your marriage will soon be celebrated, at a good and fruitful moment. You will therefore build a Jewish home based on the Torah and the mitzvos*. Consequently, you must place your trust in the Creator of the world, Who directs it. He is the Essence of good, and He will bless you in all your needs, so that you may be happy, materially and spiritually.

I send you my blessing for success in your sacred mission within the Chabad* school, for success in the joyful preparations for your marriage, which will be celebrated at a good moment.

במענה על מכתבה, מגלגלין זכות ליום ותקופה זכאים אשר נתקבל מכתבה ימים אחדים לפני יום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, אשר ההשגחה עליונה זיכתה אותה לנצל כשרונותי' במוסדות הנקראים על שמו ומתנהלים ברוחו, ואם בהנוגע לכל אחד מישראל הרי רועי ישראל מעוררים רחמים רבים בכל המצטרך להם, על אחת כמה וכמה בהנוגע לכל אלו הלוקחים חלק ומשתתפים במוסדות של רועי ישראל אלו אשר זהו הקורת רוח הכי גדולה שאפשר לגרום להנשמה, וכמו ברועה כפשוטו ענינו ועיקר תכונתו הוא להתאים העשבים להשה והצאן וכמאמר רז"ל הידוע (שמ"ר ב, ב) שבאופן כזה בחנו את דוד ומשה רבנו רעיא מהימנא, כן הוא ממש בהנוגע לרועי ישראל שעיקר ענינים ותכונתם להתאים הטובה המושפעת על ידי תפלתם לצרכי ולעניני הנזקק לטובה, זאת אומרת בטוב הנראה והנגלה הן בענינים הגשמים והן בענינים הרוחנים, ובפרט אשר מתקרב הזמן של חתונתה בשעה טובה ומוצלחת ולבנין בית בישראל על יסודי התורה והמצוה, ונכון יהי' לבה בטוח בבורא העולם ומנהיגו עצם הטוב שיתברכו בהמצטרך להם בהאמור ומאושרים יהיו ברוח ובגשם.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתה בקדש בבית ספר חב"ד ולהצלחת ההכנות שלה מתוך שמחה לחתונתה בשעה טובה, המחכה לבשו"ט.
